max. 90 Nm
Note the sensor’s maximum permissible tightening torque of 90 Nm.
N

te the preferred direction of the object relative to the sensor, cf. table 1.
5 Electrical installation
The sensors must be connected in a voltage-free state (U
V
= 0 V). T
he following informa‐
tion must be observed, depending on the connection type:
Male connector connection: pin assignment
Cable: wire color
Only apply voltage/switch on the voltage supply (U
V
> 0 V) once all electrical connec‐
tions have been established. The green LED indicator lights up on the sensor.

6 Commissioning
1 Alignment
Align t
he sensor with the object. Select the position so that the red emitted light beam hits
the center of the object. You must ensure that the optical opening (front screen) of the sen‐
sor is completely clear [see figure].

Check the application conditions: Adjust the sensing range and distance to the object or
back
ground and the remission capability of the object according to the corresponding dia‐
gram [see figure 10] (x = sensing range, y = monitored area between the set sensing range
and background suppression as a % of the sensing range (object remission/background
remission)). Remission: 6% = black 1, 18% = gray 2, 90% = white 3 (referring to stan‐
dard white as per DIN 5033). We recommend making the adjustments using an object with
a low remission.
The minimum distance (= y) for background suppression can be determined from diagram
[ see figure 10 1] as follows:
Example: x = 150 mm, y = 20 => 20% of 150 mm = 30 mm. That is, the background is
suppressed at a distance of > 180 mm from the sensor.

The sensing range is adjusted with the potentiometer (type: 270°). Clockwise rotation:
sensing r
ange increased; counterclockwise rotation: sensing range reduced. We recom‐
mend placing the object within the sensing range, e.g. see table 4. Once the sensing range
has been adjusted, the object is removed from the path of the beam, which causes the
background to be suppressed and the switching output to change [see table 3].

8 Disassembly and disposal
The sensor must be disposed of according to the applicable country-specific regula‐
tions
. Efforts should be made during the disposal process to recycle the constituent
materials (particularly precious metals).
NOTE
Dispos
al of batteries, electric and electronic devices
According to international directives, batteries, accumulators and electrical or
electronic devices must not be disposed of in general waste.
The owner is obliged by law to return this devices at the end of their life to the
respective public collection points.
WEEE:
This symbol on the product, its package or in this document, indi‐
ca
tes that a product is subject to these regulations.
9 Maintenance
SICK sensors are maintenance-free.
We r
ecommend doing the following regularly:
Clean the external lens surfaces
Check the screw connections and plug-in connections
