BMW Protection Line
The BMW Protection Line is a four-door
enhanced-security saloon which re-
sembles the standard car very closely
externally.
The protective measures which have
been taken are:
>
protective polycarbonate-coated
glass in all windows (to prevent the
car's occupants from being injured
by slivers of glass)
>
special high-strength moulded
composite fibre elements and pan-
els at the sides and in the roof, roof
posts and door trims of the interior,
in the front footwells, at the rear
and on the luggage compartment
bulkhead.
The use of protective glass raises the
car's centre of gravity compared with
the series-production version. Please
take into account that the body may
therefore roll rather more when corner-
ing or when exposed to severe lateral
acceleration forces.
You can familiarise yourself with this
changed road behaviour and learn to
handle the car correctly in an emer-
gency by attending one of the special
BMW M driver training courses. BMW
Service will gladly advise you on this
subject.
Items not described in this supplemen-
tary owner's handbook are dealt with in
the car's main owner's handbook or in
additional installation and operating in-
structions supplied with the car. If you
have any queries, BMW Service will be
glad to assist you.
Advanced technical features and a high
standard of quality are characteristics
of BMW equipment which are main-
tained by constant development work.
In view of this, certain aspects of your
car's equipment may differ from the de-
tails provided in this handbook. Nor can
errors and omissions be entirely ruled
out. You are therefore asked to appreci-
ate that no legal claims based on the
details, illustrations or descriptions in
this handbook can be entertained.
Please have repairs to protective
equipment performed only by
BMW subsidiaries or dealers authorised
to deliver and service these cars, since
they are in possession of the necessary
specialised knowledge and special
tools.
