INTRODUZIONE
Il sistema comprende una maschera da snorkeling Sea Vu Dry +, un adattatore, un disco, due tappi e due filtri. Per
l’utilizzo con i filtri bisogna dapprima staccare lo snorkel dalla maschera. Per fare ciò basta rimuovere la linguetta
di silicone dallo snorkel (Figura 1). Di seguito si deve inserire l’adattatore nel verso giusto e spingerlo fino a battuta.
Assicurarsi che l’o-ring sul montante della maschera rimane in posizione durante questo inserimento (Figure 2-4).
A questo punto si può inserire la linguetta di silicone negli spazi appositi sul retro dell’adattatore (Figura 5).
L’adattatore presenta due canali:
- il canale centrale che punta verso l’alto è il canale di inspirazione
- il canale laterale è il canale di espirazione.
Quando si inspira, l’aria scende dal canale centrale attraverso l’adattatore e il montante in cima alla maschera, e da
qui entra nella maschera e passa davanti agli occhi. Durante l’atto inspiratorio le valvoline A in figura 6 si aprono e
fanno passare l’aria nella zona oronasale. Durante l’espirazione, le valvoline A si chiudono e si aprono sia le valvoline B
laterali che la valvolina C frontale. Questa separazione dei flussi garantisce un accumulo minimo di anidride carbonica
all’interno della maschera.
La maschera può essere utilizzata in due configurazioni:
- filtrando la sola inspirazione;
- filtrando sia la inspirazione che la espirazione.
I filtri forniti con la maschera sono filtri medicali del tipo usati nei reparti di rianimazione e anestesia, con efficienza
filtrante del 99,9999% (batteri) e 99,999% (virus). Questi filtri sono bidirezionali e hanno una durata di 24 ore dal primo
utilizzo.
La configurazione che filtra solo la inspirazione è per coloro che sanno di non avere malattie infettive e che si vogliono
schermare da eventuali malattie infettive intorno a loro. In questa configurazione, bisogna apporre uno dei filtri forniti
nella confezione sul canale centrale come mostrato in figure 7-8. Il filtro va inserito a spinta. Solo uno dei due lati
del filtro è compatibile con l’adattatore. Per evitare che possa entrare della sporcizia o contaminazione nel canale
laterale, si consiglia di chiuderla con uno dei tappi (Figura 9).
La configurazione che filtra anche l’espirazione è la più completa, perché previene anche la fuoriuscita di batteri o
virus espirati dall’utente stesso. Per questa configurazione si aggiunge un filtro sul canale laterale ma si deve anche
sostituire la valvola centrale C in figura 6 con il disco in dotazione. Per togliere la valvola di scarico e’ sufficiente tirare
un lato della griglia sporgente (Figure 10-12). Di seguito bisogna inserire il disco nella sede dove si trovava la valvola
(Figura 13), prestando attenzione che il bordino di silicone sia uniformemente sopra al disco (Figura 14).
Se si vuole tornare alla configurazione snorkeling, è sufficiente sostituire l’adattatore con lo snorkel e il disco con la
valvola. Per rimontare la valvola C bisogna prima separare la griglia dal portavalvola stesso, inserire la valvola nella
sua sede, e poi inserirgli sopra la griglia.
PRECAUZIONI
Assicurarsi che l’adattatore portafiltri è inserito fino a battuta. Questo assicura la separazione delle vie di inspirazione
ed espirazione. La maschera deve essere indossata in modo tale da fare tenuta sul viso. I cinghioli devono essere
tensionati sufficientemente da garantire la tenuta senza che la maschera spinga troppo sul viso. Per verificare la
tenuta provare a tappare entrambi i canali in cima alla maschera ed eseguire una leggera inspirazione: si dovrebbe
avere la sensazione che la maschera si avvicini al viso.
INDOSSAMENTO
- Sganciare la doppia estremità inferiore della testiera agendo sulle due fibbie a sgancio rapido.
- Indossare la maschera posizionandola adeguatamente sul viso. Posizionare la testiera centrandola sulla parte alta
posteriore della testa (Figure 15-16).
- Chiudere la testiera attraverso le due fibbie alle estremità (Figure 17-18). Se necessario, per ottenere un’adesione
perfetta, sganciare la testiera premendo i tasti sulle fibbie e regolarne la lunghezza attraverso i passanti presenti
sulle fibbie (Figura 19). Riagganciare le fibbie e verificare di avere ottenuto una tenuta confortevole. Assicurarsi che
non ci siano capelli nelle zone coperte dalla guarnizione. Non stringere in modo eccessivo.
- Per togliere la maschera in modo sicuro, premere il tasto delle fibbie sganciando la testiera nella parte bassa.
- In alternativa, per indossare la maschera si può lasciare la testiera agganciata alla cornice della maschera e
infilare la maschera sulla testa (Figure 20-21).
PULIZIA E DISINFEZIONE
La maschera può essere pulita con acqua calda e detergente da stoviglie. È possibile pulire le superfici esterne con un
panno imbevuto di alcol isopropilico, alcol etilico o acqua ossigenata. È anche possibile lavare la maschera ponendola
nella lavastoviglie con un ciclo ad alta temperatura. Per la disinfezione si raccomanda di eseguire dapprima un ciclo
ad alta temperatura in lavastoviglie dopodiché seguire uno di questi metodi:
- porre la maschera intera in un contenitore di acqua tale da coprire la maschera e portare l’acqua all’ebollizione.
Tenere la maschera nell’acqua bollente per 10-15 minuti dopodiché raffreddarla lentamente;
- applicare abbondanti quantità di uno dei seguenti prodotti e lasciarli agire per 10-15 minuti, dopodiché sciacquare
bene la maschera:
• alcol isopropilico o alcol etilico
• candeggina
• acqua ossigenata (soluzione al 30%)
NON usare alcol metilico poiché aggredisce il policarbonato (parte trasparente rigida della maschera).
CURA E MANUTENZIONE
Si raccomanda di porre i tappi sui canali e/o sul lato esposto dei filtri quando la
maschera non é in uso o quando si puliscono le superfici esterne (Figura 22).
Non esporre la maschera a raggi solari diretti o a fonti di calore per tempo prolungato.
Dopo l’uso riporre in un luogo fresco e asciutto assicurandosi di non distorcere il
prodotto. A parte la sostituzione dei filtri a intervalli regolari e una pulizia dopo ogni
utilizzo, la maschera richiede minima manutenzione. Nel caso di malfunzionamento
delle valvole, quest’ultime possono essere sostituite. I componenti sostituibili sono
- Valvole diametro 26 mm su setto oronasale (Figura 6/A)
- Valvole diametro 32 mm su canali di espirazione (Figura 6/B)
- Valvola frontale diametro 22 mm (Figura 6/C)
Per rimuovere le valvole è sufficiente tirare sulla parte larga della valvola finché esce
dalla sua sede. Per installare una nuova valvola, inserire la parte stretta nel foro centrale
della sede valvola e tirare dall’altro lato finché la parte conica allargata esce dal foro.
Assicurarsi che la parte larga della valvola sia piatta contro la superficie di appoggio.
Per le valvole B è necessario prima rimuovere la copertura di silicone dal portavalvola (Figure 23-25). Per la valvola C
bisogna prima togliere la griglia di protezione della valvola (Figura 26-27).

INTRODUCTION
The system comprises a snorkeling mask Sea Vu Dry+, an adapter, a disk, two plugs and two filters. For use with the
filters, you have to first remove the snorkel. To do so, simply pull the end of the silicone strap out of the two grooves
(figure 1). Next, push the adapter onto the protruding element on top of the mask all the way until it bottoms out. Make
sure that the o-ring on the protruding element stays in place (figures 2-4).
Now you can insert the end of the silicone strap into the corresponding grooves of the adapter (figure 5).
The adapter features two channels:
- The central upward-pointing channel is the inhalation channel;
- The side channel is the exhalation channel.
When you inhale, air goes through the central channel, down the tube, and from here it enters the mask. It flows in
front of the eyes and then through the small flapper valves A shown in figure 6. When you exhale, flapper valves A
close and the CO2 rich exhaled gas flows out to the sides past flapper valves B and through front flapper valve C. This
separation of inhaled and exhaled flow ensures a minimum of carbon dioxide build-up inside the mask.
The mask can be used in two configurations:
- Filtering only the inhalation;
- Filtering both the inhalation and the exhalation.
The filters provided with the system are medical filters such as those used in ICUs. Their filtering efficiency is 99,9999%
(for bacteria) e 99,999% (for virus). These filters are bidirectional and they have a duration of 24 hours after first use.
Filtering only the inhalation is for those people who know not to have infectious diseases and who want to shield themselves
against foreign bacteria or virus. In this configuration, you simply place one filter on the inhalation channel by pushing it
onto the adapter until it bottoms out (figures 7-8). Note that only one side of the filter is compatible with the channels. To
prevent dirt or any other contaminant to enter the mask, place one of the plugs on the side channel (figure 9).
Filtering both the inhalation and the exhalation shields the people around you as well. For this to work, in addition to
adding a filter to the side channel, you have to replace the front valve C with the disk provided. To remove the front valve
simply pull on one side of the outer grid (figures 10-12). Next insert the disk into the seat that housed the valve (figure
13), making sure that the silicone lip is snug around the top perimeter of the disk (figure 14).
In case you want to return to the snorkeling configuration, simply replace the adapter with the snorkel and put the
front valve back in place. For the latter, it is best to first separate the grid from the valve holder, insert the valve holder
into the seat on the skirt of the mask then press the grid back into place.
PRECAUTIONS
Ensure that the adapter is inserted all the way until it bottoms out. This ensures the separation of the inhalation and
exhalation flows. The mask has to be donned and the straps have to be tightened so as to provide a good seal but
without putting too much pressure on the face itself. To verify that you have a good seal, plug both channels and inhale
lightly, you should feel the mask press against your face.
DONNING AND DOFFING
- Unclip both lower ends of the strap from the frame of the mask.
- Place the mask over your face while placing the strap along the top center of your head (figures 15-16).
- Clip the lower ends of the strap back onto the frame of the mask (figures 17-18). If necessary, unclip the straps in
order to adjust their lenght, making them slide through the loops (figure 19), then clip them back on and verify the fit.
- To remove the mask, unclip the lower ends of the strap and pull the mask off your face.
- Alternatively you can leave the strap clipped to the frame of the mask and pull it over your head (figures 20-21).
CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
The mask can be cleaned with warm water and dish detergent. You can also wipe it with isopropyl alcohol (rubbing
alcohol), ethyl alcohol or hydrogen peroxide. For a more complete cleaning you can put the mask into the dishwasher
on a high temperature cycle. To disinfect the mask, perform first a high temperature cycle in the dishwasher after
which you can follow one of these methods:
- place it in a pot of water and bring the water to boil. Leave the mask in the boiling water for 10-15 minutes then let
it cool down slowly;
- apply copious amounts of one of the following products and leave it on the mask for 10-15 minutes, then rinse
thouroughly:
• Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) or ethyl alcohol (ethanol);
• Bleach
• Hydrogen peroxide (30% solution)
Do NOT use methyl alcohol (methanol) as it attacks the polycarbonate of the mask (all transparent hard parts).
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
We recommend putting the plugs on the channels and/or the exposed end of the filters when the mask is not being
used or when you are cleaning the outside surfaces (figure 22).
Don’t expose the mask to direct sunlight or heat sources for a prolonged period of
time. After use stow it in a dry and cool place. Aside for the regular replacement of
the filters and cleaning, the mask requires very little maintenance. In case of valve
malfunction, these can be replaced. The replaceable items are:
- 26 mm diameer flapper valves on oronasal (figure 6/A)
- 32 mm flapper valves on exhalation channels (figure 6 /B)
- 22 mm front valve (figure 6/C)
To remove a valve, simply pull it out by grabbing it from the wide side. To install a new
one, push its stem through the center hole of the valve holder then pull it through
from the other side until the inverted cone pops out. Ensure that the wide part of the
valve rests flat against the sealing surface.
For valves B it is first necessary to remove the silcone channels surrounding the valve
holder (figures 23-25). For valve C you first need to remove the front grid in order to
access the valve itself (figures 26-27).
