1. Purpose of Your GARDENA Pond Aerator
Intended Use:
The GARDENA Pond Aerator is designed to improve the oxygen
content of ponds in private gardens and can be used outdoors in
sheltered spots.

As a pond aerator:
The pond aerator supplies the pond with additional oxygen and in this
way improves the living conditions of the flora and fauna in the pond
and the water quality. However, it is still necessary to plant up the
pond with the correct plants to produce oxygen.
• AP 180: for ponds up to a maximum volume of 5000 litres
• AP 400: for ponds up to a maximum volume of 12000 litres
As an Ice Preventer:
The Pond Aerator can be used to supplement the GARDENA Ice
Preventer Pump Art. 7975.
The GARDENA pond aerator may only be used at an appropriate
distance from the water (min 2 m).

3. Using the Equipment for the First Time
For pond aeration:
Electrical Safety:
Do not carry the pond aerator by the cable and do
not use the cable for pulling the plug out of the socket.
Protect the cable from heat, oil and sharp edges.
Pull out the plug after decommissioning, if not in
use and before maintenance.
The data on the type plate must correspond to the
mains power data.
The pond aerator may not be operated if people are
in the water.
➔ Pull out the mains plug before inserting and re-
moving the bubbling stones.
We recommend using the pond aerator via a fault
current interruptor (RCD) with a nominal fault current
≤ 30 mA.
Inspect before use:
Inspect before use to check whether the pond aerator
is damaged, especially the mains cable and plug. A
damaged pond aerator may not be used. If damaged,
have your pond aerator checked over by GARDENA
Service or an approved electrician.
Danger! Electric shock!
➔ The pond aerator must be installed above the level of
the water so that no water can run into the pump and
cause a short circuit.

The
intake mat on the underside of the pump must be unobstructed
so
that the pump can draw in air.
2. Attach each of the hoses

3. Only for AP 400: Install flow regulators

4. Install non-return valves

in the hoses as close as possible to the
water. Ensure they are installed in the correct direction.
5. Insert bubbling stones

on the end of the hoses.
6. Place the bubbling stones
햶
in the pond above the base of the
pond (max. 1.2 m deep AP 180 / 1.5 m deep AP 400). If the bubbling
stones
햶
are too close to the bottom, this will be stirred up and the
pond will become cloudy.
TIP: The smaller the depth to which the bubbling stones are sub-
merged, the greater the amount of oxygen discharged into the pond.
7. Insert mains plug in a socket.
Warning! The pond aerator will start immediately.

1. Connect the pond aerator as described in “For pond aeration”.
2. Place bubbling stones approx. 30 cm under the surface of the
water (e.g. route the hoses through the GARDENA ice-preventer
art. 7975).
3. Insert mains plug in a socket.
Warning! The pond aerator will start immediately.
4. Check function of Pond Aerator regularly.
The pump must operate continuously to prevent the formation of ice.

5. Rectifying Faults
Replacing the membranes:

faults in the pond aerator.

➔ Plug in mains plug.
➔ Install the non-return valve
correctly (see 3. Using the
Equipment for the First Time).
➔ Open the flow regulator.

pment for the First Time).
➔ Place the bubbling stones
higher above the bottom of
the pond.

9. Warranty
GARDENA guarantees this product for 2 years (from date of
purchase).
This guarantee covers all serious defects of the unit that can be proved to
be material or manufacturing faults. Under warranty we will either replace
the unit or repair it free of charge if the following conditions apply:

• The unit must have been handled properly and in keeping with the
requirements of the operating instructions.
• Neither the purchaser or a non-authorised third party have attempted
to repair the unit.
The wearing parts, membranes and intake mat, are excluded from the
warranty.
This manufacturer’s guarantee does not affect the user’s existing warranty
claims against the dealer/seller.
If a fault occurs with your Garden Pump, please return the faulty unit
together with a copy of the receipt and a description of the fault, with
ostage paid to one of the GARDENA Service Centres listed on the back
of these operating instructions.
