Thank you for purchasing the Personal scale Body Fit. Please

read this manual carefully before using your new scale to

familiarize yourself with all its features.

In the following pages, you’ll learn to properly care for and

safely operate your scale, helping it to perform at peak

efficiency for years to come.

1.1 Use of this manual

This manual provides important information on the initial setup,

safe operation, intended use, care and cleaning of the scale.

Please store this manual in a safe place near the scale for easy

reference

2.1 Intended use

This device is designed for use in domestic situations in closed

rooms for

 Weighing and

 for the determination of the average body fat percentage

 for the detection of the water percentage

 for the determination of body mass index (BMI)

 for the determination of the bone weight

 for the determination of the muscle content

Any other use or usage beyond this scope is considered

unintended use.

Failure to operate this unit only as intended can be dangerous

► Use the device exclusively for its intended use.

► Follow all of the instructions in the instruction manual

Claims of all kinds due to damages resulting from unintended

uses are excluded.

2.2 General Safety information

Please note

Please observe the following general safety rules to

prevent possible injury

► Examine the device for any damages prior to using it. Do not

use the unit if it appears damaged

► Persons, who are not able to operate the device because of

any physical, mental or motor disabilities may only use the

device under the supervision or under the instruction of a

responsible person.

► Do not permit children to use the device, unless they are

supervised. Children should also be supervised when they

are anywhere near the unit during operation

► Only customer service departments authorized by the

manufacturer may carry out repairs on the device during the

guarantee period, as otherwise the guarantee entitlements

will be null and void in the event of any subsequent

damages.

► Defective components must always be replaced with original

replacement parts. Only such parts will guarantee that the

safety requirements are fulfilled.

► The scale mustn't be used by persons with a cardiac

pacemaker or with other medical transplants. The current to

flow through the body can influence the function of your

implant.

► Please take off your socks and step on the scale barefoot

with clean and dry feet.

► The scale mustn't be used by the following groups:

- Persons under the age of 10 and over the age of 80

- Athletic or muscular persons

- Pregnant women

- Persons with dropsy

► Please don't use the scale in surroundings with extremely

high or extemely low temperatures.

► Please don't jump on the scale. Don't let the scale drop,

since it is a precision electronic device and could therefore

be damaged.

► The table of body fat percentage is for reference only.

► Please remove the batteries from the scale if it shouldn't be

used for an extended period.

3 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

 The scale switches off after a few seconds.

Check the batteries for correct polarity and if they are new.

Ensure that your foot has a good contact with the metal surface.

 Is something wrong when "-" appears on the display?

The scale will automatically auto-zero. Please wait a few

seconds until "0" appears on the display.

In the scale a parameter has been stored. Please enter your

data in the scale.

 The scale only shows the weight. Body fat percentage

hasn't been found?

The measurement of the body fat percentage can be disturbed

by not standing still on the scale. Please stand still and upright

and ensure that your feet are bare and in good contact with the

metal surface of the scale.

 The body fat percentage is much higher than normal?

Please check the data programmed in the scale in respect of

sex, size and age.

Ensure that you step on the scale with bare, clean and dry feet

so that your feet are in good contact with the metal surface.

Excessive water loss, stress or horny skin of the foot can

influence the measurement of the body fat percentage.

4 Getting Started

This chapter will guide you through safely unpacking and

setting up your new unit.

4.1 Safety information

Personal and property damages can occur during

commissioning of the device!

Observe the following safety notices to avoid such dangers:

danger of suffocation.

► Before using the scale, put it on a rigid, clean, even and

smooth surface. This makes a precise measurement

possible.

4.2 What’s included

► Examine the shipment to ensure the unit and manual are

included and inspect the unit for any visible damage

► Immediately notify the carrier and/or supplier about any

incomplete shipment or damages as a result of inadequate

packaging or mishandling

4.3 Unpacking

Carefully remove the packaging material and unit from the

carton.

4.4 Disposal of the packaging

Caso believes in the importance of recycling and has selected

packaging materials that not only protect your unit from damage

during transit, but can be recycled to minimize ecological

impact.

Recycling the packaging materials preserves raw materials and

reduces waste. Take any packaging materials that are no

longer required to a recycling collection point for proper

disposal

duration of the guarantee period in the event a return in

necessary

4.5 Energy supply

 The scale operates with 4 x 1.5 V batteries. These are not

included in the delivery scope.

The rating plate with the performance data can be founded on

the back of the device

6 Operation

This chapter provides important information on operating the

device. Follow the instructions in order to avoid danger and

damage.

6.1 What is body fat percentage?

The body fat percentage is derived from the ratio between body

weight and body fat.

6.2 Measurement of the body fat percentage

To determine the body fat percentage, the BIA-method

(bioelectrical impedance analysis) has been developed.

The resistance of the body is measured while a small and

harmless electric current is sent through the body. The

resistance is higher in adipose tissue while the current flows

more easily in fat-free mass. Due to the measurement of

resistance with the body size of the person, its age and sex, it is

possible to estimate the percentage of fat and water of the

body.

The percentage of fat is influenced by the hydration of the body.

Some hours after standing up, the percentage of body fat is

influenced by the supply of water. And when you measure

yourself at different times of the day, you will also realize a

slight difference between the measured data.

With this method measurements under consistent conditions

(same time of the day and same measurement conditions) will

lead to best results.

The percentage of body fat is also influenced by other factors

like type of nutrition or heavy training.

6.3 Setting up

Please place the scale on flat and solid ground. Place it always

on the same place to avoid any difference in measuring due to

change of underground. Avoid carpets or soft flooring.

6.4 Definition of switches

Press the switch to increase data or to change setting of sex.

Press the switch to confirm your data entry.

Press the switch to reduce the data or change setting of sex.

Press the Up/down switch for a longer period when you want to

set the parameter as quick as possible.

6.5 Selection of the weight and size units

Press the switch for the change of the weight and size unit on

the rear of the device.

Before weighing, select the weight unit. During use, it is not

possible to change between the units.

6.6 Switch on

You can switch on the scale via the Set, Up and Down

switches at the bottom of the device.

6.7 Switch off

The scale switches off automatically after about 5 seconds.

6.8 Base settings

Note

► Please don't stand on the scale during setting

Step 1: Please select your personal number (PO-P9) and enter

the body parameters (sex, size, age), before you step on the

scale. Otherwise the scale can only measure your weight, but

not the correct percentage of water and fat.

Step 2: You only have to enter the data once. The scale will

store your data. Please remember the selected personal

number. Later you only have to select the number.

Step3. Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your

number and then press SET to confirm your selection.

Step 4: Selection of sex:

Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your sex and

then press SET to confirm your selection.

Step 5: Enter size:

Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to select your size and

then press SET to confirm your selection.

Step 6: Enter age:

Press the (Up) or (Down) switch in order to enter your age and

then press SET to confirm your selection.

6.9 Weighing and measuring:

Step 7: Weighing and measuring

When "0,0" appears on the display, step bare-footed on the

scale.

Your feet must stand evenly on the electrodes as shown in the

picture. In the first step your weight is measured.

If 0 appears on the display, this means that the scale is

analysing the data. Please remain on the scale.

6.10 Error messages

Indicates that the measurement of the percentage of body fat is

wrong.

Indicates that the process hasn't been done correctly.

When the scale is overloaded (150 kg), Err1 will appear on the

display.

7 Cleaning and Maintenance

This chapter provides important information on properly

cleaning and maintaining your scale

7.1 Cleaning

 Do not use chemical products.

 Use a damp cloth to clean the surface of the scale.

7.2 Disposal of the Old Device

To protect the environment, it’s important to dispose of old

electronic devices properly. Do not place your old unit in the

non-recyclable waste under any circumstances

► Please take your old unit to the nearest recycling center for

safe disposal

► Until it can disposed of properly, store your old unit away

from children

8 Warranty (Europe)

We provide a 24 month guarantee for this product, commencing

from the date of sale, for faults which are attributable to

production or material faults.

Your legal guarantee entitlements in accordance with § 439 ff.

BGB-E remain unaffected by this.

The guarantee does not include damages, which were incurred

as a result of improper handling or use, as well as malfunctions

which only have a minor effect on the function or the value of

the device. Consumables, transit damages, inasmuch as we

are not responsible for these, as well as damages, which were

incurred as a result of any repairs that were not performed by

us, are also excluded from the guarantee entitlements.

This device is designed for use in domestic situations and has

the appropriate performance levels.

Any use in commercial situations is only covered under the

guarantee to the extent that it would be comparable with the

stresses of being used in a domestic situation. It is not intended

for any additional, commercial use.

In the event of justified complaints, we will repair the faulty
