VOTRE CHRONOMÈTRE BREITLING

Un chronomètre est un instrument horaire de haute précision qui a passé avec succès

toutes les épreuves imposées par le COSC (Contrôle Oﬃ ciel Suisse des Chronomètres),

organisme neutre et indépendant qui teste individuellement chaque mouvement selon

la prescription en vigueur.

L’épreuve de certiﬁ cation pour les chronomètres-bracelets à oscillateur à balancier-spiral,

en vertu de la norme ISO 3159, consiste à observer chaque mouvement durant 15 jours et

15 nuits, dans 5 positions et à 3 températures diﬀ érentes (8°C, 23°C, 38°C). Pour obtenir

le titre de chronomètre, les performances d’un mouvement doivent répondre à 7 critères

très stricts, dont un écart de marche quotidien limité à -4/+6 secondes.

Le terme de « chronomètre » ne doit pas être confondu avec celui de « chronographe »,

qui est une montre compliquée dotée d’un mécanisme additionnel permettant de mesurer

la durée d’un événement. Un chronographe n’est pas forcément certiﬁ é chronomètre,

mais tous les chronographes Breitling portent le titre très convoité de chronomètre.

MISE EN SERVICE

REMONTAGE  MISE À L’HEURE

1. Dévisser la couronne étanche dans le sens anti-horaire.

Remonter la montre en eﬀ ectuant environ 40 rotations de

couronne dans le sens horaire.

2. Tirer la couronne en position 2. Ajuster ensuite l’heure et la

minute.

3. Repousser la couronne en position 1. Appuyer légèrement sur

celle-ci, en la tournant doucement dans le sens horaire, et

revisser jusqu’à ressentir une résistance. Ne pas forcer !

PARTICULARITÉS

LUNETTE INDEX-HORAIRES UNIDIRECTIONNELLE

La lunette de votre montre est dotée de 12 index-horaires ; ils

s’utilisent comme repères pour marquer une heure de départ

ou une heure limite dont on veut se rappeler. Sur les modèles

sans chronographe, ils servent en outre de « chrono-minutes »

permettant de mesurer, en minutes, le temps écoulé.

Pour des raisons de sécurité, la lunette ne peut être tournée que

dans le sens contraire des aiguilles de la montre.

BOUSSOLE SOLAIRE

Votre chronomètre Breitling peut être utilisé comme boussole solaire, permettant ainsi de

déterminer la direction nord-sud. Pour les régions qui ont instauré l’heure d’été, il convient

de retrancher une heure lors de l’orientation de la montre.

Utilisation dans l’hémisphère nord

Orienter avec précision l’aiguille des heures en direction du soleil.

Par rapport au cadran de la montre, le point situé à mi-distance

entre l’heure actuelle et 12h indique le sud, le nord se trouvant

à l’opposé.

MAINTENANCE

Votre chronomètre Breitling est un instrument sophistiqué fonctionnant en permanence

et sous les contraintes les plus diverses. Dans un volume très restreint, une multitude de

composants contribuent à en assurer toutes les fonctions. Leur action mécanique engendre

une usure inéluctable, que l’entretien, par un renouvellement de la lubriﬁ cation ainsi que

par le remplacement des composants usagés, permet de maîtriser. Comme tout instrument

de mesure de précision, votre montre doit faire l’objet d’une maintenance régulière pour

fonctionner au mieux de son potentiel : la périodicité de cette opération varie en fonction de

l’utilisation. Breitling ou votre concessionnaire agréé prendront volontiers celle-ci en charge.

L’ÉTANCHÉITÉ

Le mouvement de votre chronomètre est protégé par un boîtier complexe muni de joints qui

assurent son étanchéité. Sous l’inﬂ uence de divers agents extérieurs – transpiration, eau

chlorée ou salée, cosmétiques, parfums ou poussière, ces joints se dégradent. Pour cette

raison, l’étanchéité ne peut pas être garantie de manière permanente. En cas d’utilisation

intensive en milieu aquatique, il est recommandé de procéder chaque année à un contrôle

de l’étanchéité. Dans tous les cas, cette vériﬁ cation s’eﬀ ectuera tous les deux ans. Cette

opération, qui ne prend que quelques minutes, peut être eﬀ ectuée par un centre oﬃ ciel

de service après-vente Breitling ou par un concessionnaire agréé (www.breitling.com).

Les modèles Breitling sont étanches à diﬀ érents degrés. Le niveau d’étanchéité, exprimé en

mètres, est une norme qui n’indique pas une profondeur absolue d’immersion. La couronne

et les poussoirs ne doivent en aucun cas être actionnés sous l’eau ou lorsque la montre

est mouillée. Le tableau ci-dessous indique les conditions dans lesquelles votre montre

peut raisonnablement être utilisée en fonction de son degré d’étanchéité:

Si votre montre est équipée d’une couronne vissée, assurez-vous que cette dernière est

verrouillée avant toute utilisation en milieu aquatique. De même pour les poussoirs vissés.

CONSEILS UTILES

Les bracelets Breitling en cuir véritable sont manufacturés avec les matériaux les plus

raﬃ nés et constituent un produit de haute qualité. Comme tous les objets en peau naturelle

(souliers, gants, etc.), leur durée de vie varie sensiblement en fonction des conditions du

porter. En particulier, l’eau, les cosmétiques et la transpiration accélèrent le processus de

vieillissement. Un bracelet Breitling métallique ou synthétique est donc mieux adapté aux

activités impliquant un contact fréquent avec l’eau ou l’humidité.

Les boîtiers et bracelets métalliques Breitling sont conçus à partir des meilleurs alliages

et garantissent robustesse et confort au porter. Un nettoyage régulier par rinçage et

brossage à l’eau claire permet de conserver la brillance de votre montre. Cette opération

est vivement recommandée après chaque immersion dans l’eau salée ou chlorée. Pour

les montres munies d’un bracelet en cuir, procéder de la même façon, mais en évitant

de mouiller celui-ci.

Comme tout objet de valeur, les chronomètres Breitling méritent un soin particulier. Ainsi,

il convient de les protéger des chocs et coups à des objets durs, de ne pas les exposer à

des produits chimiques, solvants ou gaz dangereux ni aux champs magnétiques. En outre,

votre chronomètre Breitling est conçu pour fonctionner idéalement dans une plage de

température comprise entre 0°C et 50°C.

YOUR BREITLING CHRONOMETER

A chronometer is a high-precision instrument that has successfully passed the entire

battery of tests imposed by COSC (Swiss Oﬃ cial Chronometer Testing Institute), a neutral

and independent body which individually tests each movement according to the pre-

scriptions in force.

The certiﬁ cation test for wristwatches with sprung balance oscillators, according to

standard ISO 3159, consists of observing each movement for 15 days and 15 nights, in 5

positions and at 3 diﬀ erent temperatures (8°C, 23°C, 38°C). In order to earn the prestigious

chronometer label, a movement's performances must meet 7 very strict criteria, including

a daily variation in rate ranging between only -4/+6 seconds.

The term "chronometer" should not be confused with that of "chronograph", which is a

complicated watch ﬁ tted with an additional mechanism for measurement of the dura-

tion of an event. A chronograph is not necessarily chronometer-certiﬁ ed, but all Breitling

chronographs bear the much-coveted title of "chronometer".

PREPARATION FOR USE

WINDING  TIMESETTING

1. Unscrew the water-resistant crown anti-clockwise. Wind the

watch through approximately 40 clockwise turns of the crown.

2. Pull the crown out to position 2. Then adjust the hour and minute.

3. Push the crown back into position 1. Turn it gently clockwise

while applying light pressure, and retighten it until you feel some

resistance. Do not force it !

SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS

UNIDIRECTIONAL BEZEL WITH INDEX MARKERS

The bezel of your watch is marked with 12index markers: they

are used as points of reference to mark a start time or a limit

time you wish to remember. On models with no chronograph

functions, they also provide a "minute chrono" function enabling

you to measure the elapsed time in minutes.

For safety, the bezel can only turn counterclockwise.

SUN COMPASS

Your Breitling chronometer may be used as a sun compass, thus enabling you to determine

North and South. For regions that have instated daylight saving time, subtract one hour

when aligning the watch.

In the Northern Hemisphere

Point the hour hand precisely towards the sun. In relation to the

watch dial, the point located midway between the current time and

12 o'clock indicates South, North being exactly opposite.

In the Southern Hemisphere

Point the hour-marker located at 12 o'clock on the dial precisely

towards the sun. In relation to the watch dial, the point located

midway between the current time and 12 o'clock indicates North,

South being exactly opposite.

MAINTENANCE

Your Breitling chronometer is a sophisticated instrument which is constantly subjected

to a wide variety of stresses and strains. Within a very small volume, a large number of

components contribute to handling all the functions. Their mechanical action inevitably

leads to a certain amount of wear and tear, which may be controlled by maintenance con-

sisting of relubrication and replacing worn components. Like any precision measurement

instrument, your watch must be regularly maintained in order to function at its highest

level of potential: the frequency of this operation varies according to actual use. Breitling

or your authorized retailer will be happy to handle the procedure.

WATER RESISTANCE

The movement of your chronometer is protected by a complex case ﬁ tted with gaskets to

ensure its water resistance. Under the inﬂ uence of various external agents - perspiration,

chlorinated or salt water, cosmetics, fragrances or dust - these gaskets gradually deterio-

rate. That is why water resistance cannot be permanently guaranteed. If used intensively

in water, we recommend having an annual water resistance check conducted. In any

event, such an appraisal must be done every two years. This operation, which takes only

a few minutes, may be conducted by a Breitling authorized maintenance centre, or by an

authorized retailer (www.breitling.com).

Breitling models are water-resistant to varying degrees. The extent of the water resistance,

expressed in metres (M), is a standard value and does not indicate an absolute immersion

depth. The crown and pushpieces must not under any circumstances be operated under

water or when the watch is wet. The table below indicates the conditions in which your

watch may reasonably be used, according to its degree of water resistance:

If your watch is equipped with a screw-lock crown, ensure that this is locked before any

use in water. This also applies to screw-lock pushpieces.

USEFUL TIPS

Breitling genuine leather straps are crafted with the most reﬁ ned materials and represent

extremely high-quality products. Like all objects in natural skin (shoes, gloves, etc.), their

length of life varies considerably, according to the conditions in which they are worn. ln

particular, water, cosmetics and perspiration accelerate the ageing process. A metal or

synthetic Breitling bracelet is thus better suited to activities involving frequent contact

with water or moisture.

Breitling metal cases and bracelets are made from the ﬁ nest alloys and guarantee stur-

diness and wearer comfort. Regular cleaning by rinsing and brushing in clean water will

keep your watch shiny. This operation is strongly recommended after each immersion in

salty or chlorinated water. For watches ﬁ tted with a leather strap, the same advice applies,

as well as avoiding getting the strap wet.

WHAT TO AVOID

Like any valuable objects, Breitling chronometers deserve special care. It is important to

protect them from jarring and knocks by hard objects, and not to expose them to chemical

products, solvents, dangerous gases, or magnetic ﬁ elds. Moreover, your Breitling chronom-

eter is designed to run smoothly at temperatures ranging between 0°C and 50°C.

IHR BREITLING-CHRONOMETER

Ein Chronometer ist ein hochpräzises Zeitmessinstrument, das sämtliche vom COSC (Oﬃ zi-

elle Schweizerische Chronometerkontrolle) vorgeschriebenen Tests erfolgreich bestanden

hat. Diese neutrale und unabhängige Organisation prüft jedes einzelne Uhrwerk nach den

geltenden Bestimmungen.

Bei der Zertiﬁ zierung nach der ISO-Norm 3159 wird jedes Uhrwerk eines Armbandchrono-

meters mit Unruh-Spiralfeder-Oszillator während 15 Tagen und Nächten in fünf Positionen

und bei drei verschiedenen Temperaturen (8, 23 und 38 °C) geprüft. Für die Anerkennung

als Chronometer müssen die Werkleistungen sieben strenge Kriterien erfüllen, einschließ-

lich der maximal zugelassenen Gangabweichung zwischen -4 und +6 Sekunden pro Tag.

Chronometer sind nicht mit Chronografen zu verwechseln. Bei Letzterem handelt es sich

um eine komplexe Uhr, deren Zusatzmechanismus die Dauer von Zeitabschnitten misst.

Ein Chronograf ist also nicht unbedingt ein Chronometer, bei Breitling jedoch tragen alle

Chronografen die begehrte Bezeichnung Chronometer.

INBETRIEBNAHME

AUFZIEHEN  ZEITEINSTELLUNG

1. Die wasserdicht verschraubte Krone im Gegenuhrzeigersinn

lösen. Die Krone ca. 40-mal im Uhrzeigersinn drehen, um die

Uhr aufzuziehen.

2. Die Krone in Position 2 ziehen. Danach die Zeiger auf die

gewünschte Zeit stellen.

3. Die Krone wieder in Position 1 zurückstoßen. Während des

Drehens im Uhrzeigersinn einen leichten Druck auf die Krone

ausüben und sie bis zum spürbaren Widerstand verschrauben.

Nicht forcieren !

BESONDERHEITEN

EINSEITIG DREHBARE STUNDENINDEX-LÜNETTE

Die Lünette Ihrer Uhr weist 12 Stundenindexe auf. Sie werden

als Markierung einer Abfahrtzeit oder einer Zeitlimite benutzt,

an die man sich erinnern möchte. Bei den Modellen ohne

Chronografenfunktion dienen sie u.a. als „Minuten-Chrono”,

der die verstrichene Zeit in Minuten anzeigt.

Aus Sicherheitsgründen kann die Lünette nur gegen den Uhrzei-

gersinn gedreht werden.

SONNENKOMPASS

Für Nord-Süd-Bestimmungen kann Ihr Breitling-Chronometer als Sonnenkompass verwen-

det werden. In Regionen mit Sommerzeit ist bei der Benutzung des Sonnenkompasses die

Zeitverschiebung um eine Stunde einzubeziehen.

Benutzung in der Nordhemisphäre

Den Stundenzeiger genau in Richtung Sonne stellen. Auf halber

Distanz zwischen der Jetztzeit und 12 Uhr auf dem Ziﬀ erblatt liegt

Süden.Norden beﬁ ndet sich diagonal auf der gegenüberliegenden

Ziﬀ erblattseite.

Benutzung in der Südhemisphäre

Den sich bei 12 Uhr beﬁ ndlichen Index genau Richtung Sonne

halten. Auf halber Distanz zwischen der Jetztzeit und 12 Uhr auf

dem Ziﬀ erblatt liegt Norden. Süden beﬁ ndet sich diagonal auf der

gegenüberliegenden Ziﬀ erblattseite.

WARTUNG

Ihr Breitling-Chronometer ist ein hoch entwickeltes Instrument, das ununterbrochen und

oft unter schwierigsten Bedingungen arbeitet. Auf kleinstem Raum spielen zahlreiche

Einzelteile reibungslos zusammen und steuern sämtliche Funktionen. Die mechanischen

Abläufe führen unausweichlich zu Abnutzungserscheinungen, die durch fachgerechte

Wartung (Schmieren und Ersetzen abgenutzter Teile) behoben werden. Wie jedes Prä-

zisionsmessgerät muss auch Ihre Uhr regelmäßig gewartet werden, damit sie optimal

funktioniert. Die Periodizität dieses Services variiert je nach Gebrauchsintensität. Breitling

oder Ihr oﬃ zieller Händler übernimmt diese Arbeit gerne.

WASSERDICHTHEIT

Das Werk Ihres Chronometers wird von einem komplexen, mit Dichtungen versehenen

Gehäuse vor Wasser geschützt. Verschiedene äußere Einﬂ üsse wie Transpiration, Chlor- oder

Salzwasser, Kosmetika, Parfums oder Staub können die Dichtungen beschädigen. Deshalb

ist die Wasserdichtheitsgarantie zeitlich begrenzt. Bei intensivem Gebrauch im Wasser sollte

die Wasserdichtheit jedes Jahr kontrolliert werden oder spätestens alle zwei Jahre. Dieser

Test dauert nur einige Minuten und kann von jedem oﬃ ziellen Breitling-Servicezentrum

oder -Händler durchgeführt werden (www.breitling.com).

Der Wasserdichtheitswert, in Metern angegeben, variiert von Modell zu Modell. Dabei handelt

es sich um Richtwerte und nicht um absolute Tauchtiefen. Die Krone sowie die Drücker

dürfen unter Wasser oder an nassen Zeitmessern auf keinen Fall betätigt werden. Die

Tabelle unten gilt als Richtlinie für den adäquaten Gebrauch der Uhr, je nach ihrem Was-

serdichtheitsgrad:

Überprüfen Sie bei einer Uhr mit verschraubter Krone vor jedem Wasserkontakt, dass sie

verschraubt ist. Dies gilt auch für verschraubte Drücker.

NÜTZLICHE TIPPS

Breitling-Armbänder aus echtem Leder sind aus feinsten Materialien gefertigt und stellen

ein qualitativ hochstehendes Produkt dar. Wie bei allen Artikeln aus Naturleder (Schuhe,

Handschuhe usw.) hängt ihre Lebensdauer von der Beanspruchung ab. Vor allem Wasser,

Kosmetika und Transpiration beschleunigen den Alterungsprozess. Bei häuﬁ gem Was-

serkontakt oder in feuchter Umgebung raten wir zu einem Metall- oder Synthetikarmband

von Breitling.

Breitling-Gehäuse und -Metallarmbänder sind aus hochwertigsten Legierungen gefertigt

und gewährleisten Robustheit und Tragekomfort. Regelmäßiges Reinigen und ausgiebiges

Spülen unter ﬂ ießendem Leitungswasser – besonders nach jedem Kontakt mit Meer- oder

Chlorwasser – bewahren Ihrer Uhr ein makelloses Aussehen. Dies gilt auch für Uhren mit

Lederband, wobei das Leder nicht mit Wasser in Kontakt kommen sollte.

UNBEDINGT VERMEIDEN

Wie jedem Wertobjekt gebührt auch den Breitling-Chronometern besondere Sorgfalt. Schüt-

zen Sie Ihren Zeitmesser vor Stößen und Schlägen mit harten Gegenständen, und setzen Sie

ihn weder chemischen Produkten noch Verdünnern, gefährlichen Gasen oder Magnetfeldern

aus. Ihr Breitling-Chronometer ist so konzipiert, dass er in einem Temperaturbereich von

O bis 50°C einwandfrei funktioniert.

IL SUO CRONOMETRO BREITLING

Un cronometro è uno strumento orario di alta precisione che ha superato con successo

tutte le prove imposte dal Controllo Uﬃ ciale Svizzero dei Cronometri (COSC), un ente neutrale

e indipendente che sottopone a test individuali ogni movimento in base alla normativa

in vigore.

ln base alla norma ISO 3159, la prova di certiﬁ cazione per i cronometri da polso muniti di

oscillatore a bilanciere-spirale consiste nel tenere sotto osservazione ogni movimento per

15 giorni e 15 notti, in 5 posizioni e a 3diverse temperature (8°C, 23°C, 38°C). Per ottenere

il titolo di cronometro, le prestazioni di un movimento devono rispettare 7 criteri precisi,

fra cui uno scarto di marcia contenuto entro --4/+6 secondi al giorno.

Il "cronometro" non va confuso con il "cronografo", un orologio complicato munito di un

meccanismo aggiuntivo che permette di misurare la durata di un avvenimento. Un crono-

grafo non possiede necessariamente il certiﬁ cato di cronometro, mentre tutti i cronograﬁ

Breitling possiedono l'ambitissimo titolo di cronometro.

MESSA IN FUNZIONE

CARICA  REGOLAZIONE DELL'ORA

1. Svitare la corona impermeabile ruotandola in senso antiorario.

Caricare l'orologio facendo compiere alla corona circa 40 giri

in senso orario.

2. Estrarre la corona portandola in posizione 2. Poi regolare l’ora

e il minuto.

3. Risospingere la corona in posizione 1. premerla leggermente

mentre la si ruota delicatamente in senso orario, quindi

riavvitarla ﬁ nché si sente una certa resistenza.

Non forzare !

PARTICOLARITÀ

LUNETTA – INDICI ORARI UNIDIREZIONALE

La lunetta del Suo orologio possiede 12 indici orari. Si usano

come riferimenti per segnare un'ora di partenza o un'ora limite

che si vuole ricordare. Nei modelli senza cronografo servono

inoltre da "crono-minuti", e permettono di misurare in minuti

il tempo trascorso.

Per motivi di sicurezza la lunetta può girare solo in senso

antiorario.

MANUTENZIONE

Il Suo cronometro Breitling è uno strumento soﬁ sticato che funziona costantemente e in

condizioni disparate. Racchiude in un volume ridottissimo un gran numero dl componenti.

La loro azione meccanica provoca per forza di cose una certa usura a cui è possibile ovviare

con una buona manutenzione, che consiste principalmente in una corretta lubriﬁ cazione

e nella sostituzione dei componenti usurati. Come ogni strumento di misura di precisione,

per funzionare al meglio delle sue possibilità il Suo orologio deve essere sottoposto a una

manutenzione regolare, la cui periodicità varia secondo l'uso che ne viene fatto. Breitling o

il Suo concessionario autorizzato si incaricheranno volentieri di questo compito.

IMPERMEABILITÀ

Il movimento del Suo cronometro è protetto da una cassa complessa, munita di giunti che

o salata, cosmetici, profumi o polvere - questi giunti si degradano con l'andare del tempo.

Per questo motivo l'impermeabilità non può essere garantita in maniera permanente.

Nel caso di un uso intenso in ambiente acquatico si raccomanda di far eﬀ ettuare ogni

anno un controllo dell'impermeabilità. E in ogni caso questa veriﬁ ca va eseguita ogni

due anni. L'operazione, che richiede appena pochi minuti, potrà essere eseguita presso

un centro uﬃ ciale di servizio postvendita Breitling o da un concessionario autorizzato

(www.breitling.com).

BUSSOLA SOLARE

Il Suo cronometro Breitling può essere usato come bussola solare, permettendo così di

determinare la direzione nord-sud. Per le aree che hanno adottato l'ora estiva, è consi-

gliabile sottrarre un'ora quando si orienta l'orologio.

Come si usa nell'emisfero Nord

Orientare con precisione in direzione del sole la lancetta delle

ore. Rispetto al quadrante dell'orologio, il punto situato a mezza

distanza tra l'ora attuale e le ore 12 indica il sud, mentre il nord si

trova al punto opposto.

Come si usa nell'emisfero Sud

Orientare con precisione in direzione del sole l'indice situato

all'altezza delle ore 12. Rispetto al quadrante dell'orologio, il punto

situato a mezza distanza tra l'ora attuale e le ore 12 indica il nord,

mentre il sud si trova al punto opposto.

Gli orologi Breitling presentano gradi diversi d'impermeabilità. Il grado d'impermeabilità,

indicato in metri, è una indicazione di massima, che non rappresenta un valore assoluto.

Corona e pulsanti non devono mai essere azionati sott'acqua o quando l'orologio è bagnato.

La tabella riportata qui sotto indica entro quali limiti è ragionevole usare l'orologio, in base

al suo grado d'impermeabilità:

Se l’orologio possiede una corona a vite, accertarsi che questa sia bloccata, prima di usare

l’orologio in ambiente acquatico. Lo stesso vale per i pulsanti a vite.

CONSIGLI UTILI

I cinturini Breitling sono di vera pelle e sono fabbricati con materiali sceltissimi. Essi rap-

presentano perciò un prodotto d'elevata qualità. Come tutti gli oggetti di vera pelle {scarpe,

guanti ecc.), la loro durata dipende dall'uso che se na fa. L'acqua, i cosmetici e il sudore

accelerano l'invecchiamento della pelle. Un bracciale Breitling di metallo o di materiale

sintetico è quindi più adatto per le attività che implicano un frequente contatto dell'orologio

con l'acqua o con l'umidità.

Le casse e i bracciali di metallo Breitling sono ottenuti dalle migliori leghe, e garantiscono

robustezza e comfort al polso. Una pulitura regolare, sciacquando e spazzolando l'oro-

logio in acqua dolce, permette di mantenere la brillantezza dell'orologio. Si raccomanda

vivamente di procedere a questa operazione dopo ogni immersione dell'orologio in acqua

salata o clorata. Quanto agli orologi con cinturino di pelle, procedere nello stesso modo

ma stando attenti a non bagnare il cinturino.

DA EVITARE

Al pari di ogni oggetto di valore, anche i cronometri Breitling meritano d'essere trattati con

particolare riguardo. Bisogna perciò proteggerli dagli urti e dai colpi con oggetti duri, non

esporli all'azione di prodotti chimici, solventi o gas pericolosi e neppure a campi magnetici.

lnoltre il cronometro Breitling è progettato per funzionare idealmente a una temperatura

compresa tra 0°C e 50°C.

SU CRONÓMETRO BREITLING

Un cronómetro es un instrumento horario de alta precisión que ha superado todos los

tests impuestos por el COSC (Control Oﬁ cial Suizo de Cronómetros), un organismo neutro

e independiente que somete a prueba a cada mecanismo individualmente según las

normas vigentes en la materia.

La prueba de certiﬁ cación según la norma ISO 3159 a la que son sometidos los cronómetros

de pulsera dotados de un oscilador con volante espiral consiste en observar cada meca-

nismo durante 15 días y 15 noches, en 5posiciones y a 3 grados de temperatura diferentes

(8°C, 23°C, 38°C). Para que un mecanismo pueda acceder al título de cronómetro debe

cumplir siete criterios muy estrictos, entre ellos no sobrepasar una diferencia de marcha

diaria entre -4 y +6 segundos.

No debe confundirse el término «cronómetro» con el de «cronógrafo». Este ultimo es un

reloj complicado dotado de un mecanismo adicional que permite medir la duración de

un determinado fenómeno. Un cronógrafo no implica forzosamente la obtención del

certiﬁ cado de cronómetro, pero todos los cronógrafos Breitling ostentan el codiciado

titulo de cronómetro.

PUESTA EN MARCHA

OPERACIÓN DE DAR CUERDA  PUESTA EN HORA

1. Desenroscar la corona con sistema de hermeticidad girándola en

sentido antihorario. Dar cuerda al reloj con la corona realizando

unas 40 rotaciones en sentido horario.

2. Tirar de la corona hasta su posición 2. A continuación, ajustar

la hora y el minuto.

3. Empujar la corona hasta la posición 1. Ejercer una ligera

presión sobre ella y, girándola suavemente en sentido horario,

enroscarla hasta percibir cierta resistencia.

PARTICULARIDADES

BISEL CON ÍNDICES HORARIOS UNIDIRECCIONAL

El bisel de su reloj va provisto de 12 índices horarios utilizados

como referencia para memorizar una hora de salida o una

hora límite. En los modelos desprovistos de cronógrafo, estos

sirven además como «crono-minutos» y permiten la medición

del tiempo transcurrido en minutos.

Por razones de seguridad, solo se podrá girar el bisel en el

sentido contrario a las agujas del reloj.

BRÚJULA SOLAR

Su cronómetro Breitling puede igualmente utilizarse como brújula solar, lo que permitirá

determinar la dirección Norte/Sur. Para las regiones que hagan uso de la hora de verano,

será necesario restar una hora cuando se orienta el reloj.

Utilización en el hemisferio norte

Orientar con precisión la aguja de las horas en dirección del Sol.

Observando la esfera del reloj, el punto situado a media distancia

entre la hora local y mediodía indica el sur, mientras que en el

extremo opuesto aparece indicado el norte.

Orientar con precisión el índice situado a las 12h en la esfera en

dirección del Sol. Observando la esfera del reloj, el punto situado
