Installing the Dashcam
Step 1: Gather the Required Equipment
Tools: Prepare the necessary tools such as a screwdriver, trim removal tool, and cable ties.
A tape measure will also be required
A third party module will be required if the vehicle does not have Left and Right indicator feeds

Step 2: SIM Installation Instructions
1. Please ensure that your working environment is clean and dry before beginning the SIM
card installation.
2. To gain access to the SIM card slot, use the TORX screwdriver provided and undo the
screw to reveal the slot.
3. Insert the SIM card, face up.
Step 3: Choose the Mounting Location
Select a suitable location within the wiper area to mount the dashcam that provides a clear view
of the road ahead and does not obstruct the view while driving. The most suitable location is
near the rear view mirror on the windscreen preferably on the driver’s side. The rear camera must
have a clear view of the driver’s face.
The centre of the front lens must be within 100mm/4" of the centre line.

Step 4: Mount the Dashcam
Using an alcohol pad, thoroughly clean and then dry the area of the windscreen where the device
will be mounted.
Remove the bracket from the kit and peel o the 3M protective lm. Ensure that the “UP” arrows
are pointing towards the top of the windscreen then stick the bracket on the windshield. Then
install the device onto the bracket as shown in the diagram.
Step 5: Connecting to the Power Lead
If left and right indicator feeds are not available on the vehicle, an alternate method will
need to be used in order to enable the lane departure warning feature. An example would
be a Third party module providing left and right indicator outputs.
Connect the power:
- POWER to permanent feed
- GND to ground
- ACC to ignition
- SENSOR 1 must connect to
the LEFT indicator feed
- SENSOR 2 must connect to
the RIGHT indicator feed
- SENSOR 3 & 4 use for
auxiliary inputs such as reverse
or handbrake

Route the cable from the power source to the dashcam’s location
Step 6: Test the Dashcam
Turn on the vehicle’s ignition, to power it on.
O: Device power o
Green: Device power on
O: No alarm
Red ash: Alarm happens
O: GPS working normal
Red ash: GPS signal poor
O: Connected to server
Red: Unable to connect to server
O: WiFi disabled/Client mode on
Green: AP mode on
Red: WiFi status abnormal
O: Recording normal
Red: Recording fails

Step 7: Initial Setup
1. Download Smart Controller application from the app store on your mobile.
2. Turn AP Mode on, to do this, click the button on the dashcam twice.
3. Connect to the Wi-Fi ‘ST-XXXXXXXXXX’
4. On the Smart Controller application login with the default login:
Username: admin Password: admin

Step 8: Calibration
To calibrate the unit, please select the preferences tab in the Smart Controller app.
Enter the parameters highlighted below
Click save and exit the app
DSC Autocalibration will commence as soon as the vehicle is moving and will complete
after ve minutes

- Audio: Set to o by default, to enable it please refer to Section 4.2.2.2 of the DC-204-AI

- Privacy mode is disabled by default, to enable it, please refer to Section 4.4.2.3 of the
DC-204-AI Series Installation & Operation Guide
- Units: Default MPH/cm, if this to be changed to km/h or inches then please refer to
Section 4.3.1.3 of the DC-204-AI Series Installation and Operation Manual
- Post record default is set to 300s. To change this please refer to section 4.4.1.1 of the
DC-204-AI Installation and Operation Guide
- LHD/RHD is set to RHD for UK and LHD for US/Canada by default. To change this
please refer to Section 3.7.1 of the DC-204-AI Series Installation & Operation Guide
