Searchzone Sonik™ is a hazardous area certiﬁed advanced ultrasonic gas leak detector for detecting

high pressure gas leaks within the protection area, in order to provide an early alert to a hazard. While

Searchzone Sonik does not indicate the type of gas, it will respond to any high pressure gas leak within

the coverage area and so will protect against the release of dangerous gases, whether toxic or ﬂammable.

It provides local visual status indication as well as 420 mA with HART® and Modbus® outputs as

standard. It has a Bluetooth® interface for conﬁguration and maintenance using the Honeywell

Advanced Instrument App on a suitable Bluetooth enabled device.

Searchzone Sonik is ATEX and IECEx approved for use in either Zone 1 (gas) or Zone 21 (dust) hazardous

areas as well as being cULus approved for use in Class I Division 1 or Class II Division 1 locations.

Searchzone Sonik is available in painted stainless steel and has two cable entries for easy wiring with

either M25 or 3/4” NPT options.

WARNING

1. Installation must be in accordance with the recognized standards of the appropriate authority in

the country concerned. For Europe see EN 6007914 and EN 60079292.

2. Installation, operation and maintenance of the unit must meet requirements on safety and

operation in hazardous areas.

3. The equipment is NOT intended to be mounted onto surfaces which may act as sources of heating

or cooling.

4. Do NOT operate the unit outside the temperature range stated in Speciﬁcation section.

5. Do NOT open the front enclosure when energized or when explosive atmosphere may be present.

6. Operators should be fully aware of the action to be taken in the event of an alarm.

7. Do NOT modify or alter the construction of the product as essential safety and certiﬁcation

requirements may be invalidated.

8. Installation, set-up and maintenance must be conducted only by trained personnel.

9. Access to the interior of the product, when carrying out any work, must be conducted only by

trained personnel.

10. In order to maintain electrical safety, the unit must NOT be operated in atmospheres of more than

21% ox ygen.

11. The plastic transport cap supplied must be replaced with suitably certiﬁed closers (such as glands

or stopping plugs) prior to commissioning. Failure to do so presents a potential source of ignition.

One certiﬁed stopping plug is supplied as standard.

12. Do NOT rely on the local visual status indication for safety related purposes.

Installation

CAUTION

1. Check that Searchzone Sonik unit has not been damaged during transport.

2. Check that the working environment (temperature) is within the range.

3. Do NOT open the front enclosure.

4. Do NOT modify the front enclosure or component parts as this will compromise the HAZLOC certiﬁcation.

5. Open and close the end cap with care to avoid deformation.

6. Installation, set-up and maintenance must be conducted only by trained and authorized personnel. Refer

to Technical Manual at all times.

7. Secure the unit in position when untightening the bracket bolts. Accidental release can cause injury.

8. Check the mating surfaces prior to assembly (threads, o-rings). Ensure that they are clean and free of

contaminants.

9. Check the o-rings prior to assembly, replace if damaged.

10. Searchzone Sonik is supplied without cable glands. Ensure that all cable entry threads are sealed with

an appropriate plug to eliminate water ingress and thread damage. At installation, all cable entry plugs

are to be removed and replaced with appropriate cable glands or blanking plugs to meet local HAZLOC

requirements.

Searchzone Sonik will normally be mounted at height, typically on a pole using supplied U-bolts and

covering the area to be protected. The supplied Universal Mounting Bracket

allows mounting on a plate, pole or other plant infrastructure. All bolts are retained to avoid loss during

installation.

Searchzone Sonik has two cable entries for easy wiring with either M25 or 3/4” NPT options. Wires

are terminated at the terminal connectors as per the wiring diagram. Spare wires must be suitably

terminated. Wiring must be in accordance with local, national and company regulations.

Exposed or bare wires must be avoided.

Commissioning

1. Check that Searchzone Sonik unit is mounted and wired correctly. Refer to Installation section of

Technical Manual for instructions.

2. Connect to Searchzone Sonik Mobile App via Bluetooth. Refer to Mobile App section of Technical

Manual for instructions.

3. Check that Searchzone Sonik settings are conﬁgured as recommended by the relevant site survey

document.

4. If necessary, adjust detector settings. Refer to Mobile App section of Technical Manual for

instructions.

5. Check that Searchzone Sonik safety outputs are working properly. Refer to Maintenance section of

Technical Manual for instructions.

CAUTION

1. A mobile device with Searchzone Sonik Mobile App installed is a prerequisite for detector settings

adjustment made via the Bluetooth connection.

2. Commissioning or proof test of Searchzone Sonik is not complete until the unit is tested to verify

that it functions according to its speciﬁcations.

Searchzone Sonik functionality can be veriﬁed using the Searchzone Sonik Hand Held Test Tool

(optional) in combination with the Mobile App.

While operating the Searchzone Sonik Hand Held Test Tool, ultrasound is generated. Do NOT aim the

tool towards your or anyone else’s body or head.

CAUTION

The Searchzone Sonik Hand Held Test Tool generates two different test signals to check detector’s

functionality:

1) the ﬁrst test signal is recognized by detector as a gas leak. It is reported through change in detector’s

LED ring status indicator. The test is automatically logged.

2) the second test signal is used for end-to-end testing. It is reported through detector’s LED ring status

indicator, Relays and through 420 mA loop to indicate alarm condition. The test is automatically logged.

toEND test using the Searchzone Sonik Hand Held Test Tool.

Honeywell Analytics warrants the Searchzone Sonik™ advanced ultrasonic gas leak detector against

defective parts and workmanship.

This warranty does not cover consumable, batteries, fuses, normal wear and tear, or damage caused by

accident, abuse, improper installation, unauthorized use, modiﬁcation or repair, ambient environment,

poisons, contaminants or abnormal operating conditions.

This warranty does not apply to sensors or components that are covered under separate warranties, or to

any 3rd-party cables and components.

In no event shall Honeywell Analytics be liable for any damages or injury of any nature or kind, no matter

how caused, that arise from incorrect handling or use of this equipment.

In no event shall Honeywell Analytics be liable for any equipment malfunction or damages whatsoever,

including (without limitation) incidental, direct, indirect, special, and consequential damages, damages

for loss of business proﬁts, business interruption, loss of business information, or other pecuniary loss,

resulting from the incorrect installation or use of this equipment.

Any claim under the Honeywell Analytics Product Warranty must be made within the warranty period and

Searchzone Sonik™ ist ein für den ExBereich zertiﬁzierter fortschrittlicher Ultraschall Gasleckdetektor

zum Erkennen von Hochdruckgaslecks im ExBereich, der frühzeitig auf Gefahren hinweisen soll.

Auch wenn der Searchzone Sonik den Gastyp nicht anzeigt, reagiert er auf Hochdruckgasleckagen und

schützt so vor dem Austritt von gefährlichen toxischen oder entzündbaren Gasen.

Er bietet eine lokale optische Statusanzeige sowie 420 mA mit HART®- und Modbus®Ausgängen als

Standard. Er weist eine Bluetooth®Schnittstelle zur Konﬁguration und Wartung unter Verwendung der

Honeywell Advanced Instrument App auf einem Bluetooth-fähigen Gerät auf.

Der Searchzone Sonik ist gemäß ATEX und IECEx für die Verwendung in ExBereichen der Zone 1 (Gas)

oder Zone 21 (Staub) zugelassen. Außerdem ist sie gemäß cULus für die Verwendung an Standorten der

Klasse 1 Division 1 oder Klasse II Division 1 zugelassen.

Searchzone Sonik ist in lackiertem Edelstahl erhältlich und weist zwei Kabeleingänge zur einfachen

WARNUNG

1. Die Installation muss in Übereinstimmung mit den Normen erfolgen, die von der entsprechenden

11. Die mitgelieferten KunststoffTransportkappen müssen vor der Inbetriebnahme durch

entsprechende zertiﬁzierte Verschlüsse (z. B. Kabelverschraubungen oder Blindstopfen) ersetzt

werden. Andernfalls kann u. U. eine Zündquelle entstehen. Ein zertiﬁzierter Blindstopfen wird

standardmäßig mitgeliefert.

12. Verlassen Sie sich NICHT auf die lokale visuelle Statusanzeige für sicherheitsbezogene Zwecke.

Installation

VORSICHT

1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass das Searchzone SonikGerät während des Transports nicht beschädigt

wurde.

2. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Arbeitstemperatur im gültigen Bereich liegt.

3. Öffnen Sie das Gehäuse NICHT.

4. Bearbeiten Sie Gehäuse und Komponenten NICHT, weil dadurch die HAZLOCZertiﬁzierung

ungültig wird.

5. Öffnen und schließen Sie die Endkappe sorgfältig, um Verformungen zu vermeiden.

6. Installation, Einrichtung und Wartung dürfen nur von geschultem und autorisiertem Personal

durchgeführt werden. Sehen Sie stets im technischen Handbuch nach.

7. Sichern Sie das Gerät an seiner Position, wenn Sie die Schrauben der Halterung lösen. Ein

versehentliches Lösen des Geräts kann zu Verletzungen führen.

8. Prüfen Sie die Fügeﬂächen vor der Montage (Dichtungen, ORinge). Stellen Sie sicher, dass sie

sauber und frei von Schadstoffen sind.

9. Prüfen Sie die ORinge vor der Montage. Ersetzen Sie sie durch zugelassene Teile, wenn sie

beschädigt sind.

10. Searchzone Sonik wird ohne Kabelverschraubungen geliefert. Stellen Sie sicher, dass alle

Gewinde an Kabeleingängen mit einem geeigneten Stopfen versehen sind, damit kein Wasser

eindringen kann und Schäden am Gewinde verhindert werden. Bei der Installation müssen alle

Stopfen für der Kabelverschraubung entfernt und durch geeignete Kabelverschraubungen oder

Blindstopfen ersetzt werden, um die lokalen HAZLOCAnforderungen zu erfüllen.

Searchzone Sonik wird normalerweise in der Höhe montiert, in der Regel mit USchrauben an einer

Stange, und deckt den gesamten zu schützenden Bereich ab. Die im Lieferumfang enthaltene Universal

Montagehalterung ermöglicht die Montage an einer Platte, Stange oder an der weiteren Infrastruktur

der Anlage. Alle Schrauben müssen aufbewahrt werden, um einen Verlust während der Installation zu

vermeiden.

Searchzone Sonik weist zwei Kabeleingänge zur einfachen Verdrahtung mit M25 oder 3/4" NPT

Optionen auf. Kabel werden dem Schaltplan entsprechend an den Steckverbindern abgeschlossen.

Nicht verwendete Kabel müssen entsprechend abgeschlossen sein. Die Verdrahtung muss in

Übereinstimmung mit lokalen, nationalen und Unternehmensvorschriften erfolgen.

Freiliegende Kabel sind zu vermeiden.

Inbetriebnahme

1. Stellen Sie sicher, dass der Searchzone Sonik ordnungsgemäß montiert und verdrahtet ist.

2. Verbinden Sie die Searchzone Sonik MobileApp via Bluetooth. Anweisungen ﬁnden Sie im Abschnitt

3. Stellen Sie sicher, dass die Einstellungen des Searchzone Sonik wie im entsprechenden

Standortgutachten empfohlen konﬁguriert sind.

VORSICHT

1. Ein Mobilgerät, auf dem die Searchzone Sonik MobileApp installiert ist, dient als Voraussetzung

für die Anpassung der Detektoreinstellungen via Bluetooth.

2. Die Inbetriebnahme bzw. der ProofTest des Searchzone Sonik ist erst abgeschlossen, wenn die

Funktionen auf ihre Angaben hin geprüft wurden.

Regelmäßiger ProofTest

Die Funktion des Searchzone Sonik kann mithilfe des Searchzone Sonik Handprüfgeräts (optional)

zusammen mit der MobileApp getestet werden.

Beim Betrieb des Searchzone Sonik Handprüfgeräts wird Ultraschall erzeugt. Richten Sie das Gerät

nicht auf sich selbst oder jemand anderen.

VORSICHT

Das Searchzone Sonik Handprüfgerät erzeugt zwei verschiedene Testsignale zur Prüfung der Funktion

des Detektors:

1) Das erste Testsignal wird vom Detektor als Gasleck erkannt. Es wird anhand einer Änderung an der

LEDRingstatusanzeige des Detektors angezeigt. Der Test wird automatisch protokolliert.

2) Das zweite Testsignal wird für „End-toEnd“Tests verwendet. Es wird anhand der LED

Ringstatusanzeige des Detektors, die Relais und die 420 mASchleife angezeigt, um auf die

Alarmbedingung hinzuweisen. Der Test wird automatisch protokolliert.

Gewährleistung für alle Material- und Fertigungsfehler.

Von der Garantie ausgeschlossen sind Verbrauchsmaterialien, Batterien, Sicherungen, normaler

Verschleiß sowie Schäden, die durch Gewalteinwirkung, missbräuchliche Verwendung, unsachgemäße

Installation, nicht autorisierte Verwendung, Änderungen oder Reparaturen, die Betriebsumgebung,

Giftstoffe, Schadstoffe oder Einsatzbedingungen außerhalb der Speziﬁkationen entstehen.

Diese Garantie gilt nicht für Sensoren oder Komponenten, die durch separate Garantien abgedeckt

werden, oder für Kabel und Komponenten von Drittanbietern.

Searchzone Sonik™, un détecteur de gaz à ultrason avancé certiﬁé pour zones dangereuses, permet

de détecter des fuites de gaz haute pression au sein de la zone de protection aﬁn d'alerter de manière

précoce sur un danger. Alors que l'appareil Searchzone Sonik ne donne aucune indication sur le type de

gaz, il réagit face à toute fuite de gaz haute pression au sein de la zone de couverture et protège ainsi

contre le dégagement de gaz dangereux (toxiques ou inﬂammables).

Il donne une indication d'état visuel local ainsi que 4 - 20 mA avec les sorties HART® et Modbus® fournis

en standard. Il est doté d'une interface Bluetooth® pour la conﬁguration et l'entretien en utilisant

l'application d'instrument avancée de Honeywell sur un appareil Bluetooth adapté.

L'appareil Searchzone Sonik est homologué ATEX et IECEx pour l'utilisation dans les zones dangereuses

de zone 1 (gaz) ou de zone 21 (poussière). Il est également certiﬁé cULus pour être utilisé en Classe I,

Division 1 ou Classe II, Division 1.

L'appareil Searchzone Sonik est disponible en acier inoxydable peint et possède deux entrées de câble

pour un câblage facile avec les options M25 ou 3/4" NPT.

AVERTISSEMENT

1. L'installation doit être conforme aux normes établies par l'autorité compétente du pays concerné.

10 . Aﬁn de garantir la sécurité électrique, l’appareil NE doit PAS être utilisé dans des atmosphères où

la concentration en oxygène est supérieure à 21 %.

11. Le capuchon de transport en plastique doit être remplacé par une fermeture correctement

certiﬁée (comme un presse-étoupe ou un bouchon obturateur) avant la mise en service de

l’appareil. Le non-respect de cette consigne risque de provoquer une inﬂammation. Un bouchon

obturateur certiﬁé est fourni en standard.

12. Ne vous ﬁez PAS à l’indication de l’état visuel local pour des raisons de sécurité.

ATTENTION

1. Vériﬁer que l'appareil Searchzone Sonik n'a pas été endommagé pendant le transport.

2. Vériﬁer que l'environnement de travail (température) se situe dans la plage.

3. NE PAS ouvrir le boîtier avant.

4. NE PAS modiﬁer le boîtier avant ou les composants car cela compromettrait la

certiﬁcation HAZLOC.

5. Ouvrir et fermer le bouchon d'extrémité avec précaution pour éviter des déformations.

6. L'installation, la conﬁguration et l'entretien doivent uniquement être effectués par du personnel

qualiﬁé et autorisé. Toujours se reporter au Manuel technique.

7. Lors du desserrage des boulons du support, ﬁxer l'appareil en place. Un relâchement accidentel

peut provoquer des blessures.

8. Vériﬁer les surfaces d'accouplement avant le montage (ﬁletages, joints toriques). S'assurer qu'elles

sont propres et exemptes de contaminants.

9. Vériﬁer les joints toriques avant le montage, remplacez-les par des pièces approuvées s’ils sont

endommagés.

10. L'appareil Searchzone Sonik est fourni sans presse-étoupes. S'assurer que tous les ﬁletages

d'entrée de câble sont scellés avec un bouchon approprié pour éviter l'inﬁltration d'eau et

l'endommagement de ﬁletages. Lors de l'installation, tous les bouchons d'entrée de câbles

doivent être retirés et remplacés par des presse-étoupes adaptés ou des bouchons ﬁletés aﬁn de

respecter les exigences locales en matière de HAZLOC.

Installation

L'appareil Searchzone Sonik est normalement monté en hauteur, en règle générale sur un pied en

utilisant les boulons en U fournis, couvrant la zone à protéger. Le support de montage universel fourni

permet le montage sur plaque, sur pied ou sur une autre infrastructure du site. Tous les boulons sont

retenus pour éviter de les perdre lors de l'installation.

L'appareil Searchzone Sonik possède deux entrées de câble pour un câblage facile avec les options M25

ou 3/4" NPT. Les câbles sont raccordés aux connecteurs à borne conformément au schéma de câblage.

Les câbles libres doivent être correctement reliés. Le câblage doit être effectué conformément aux

réglementations locales, nationales et/ou de l'entreprise.

Les câbles nus ou exposés, sont à éviter.

Mise en service

ATTENTION

1. Pour régler les paramètres du détecteur via une connexion Bluetooth, il est nécessaire d'avoir un

appareil mobile sur lequel l'application mobile Searchzone Sonik est installée.

2. La mise en service ou le test fonctionnel de l'appareil Searchzone Sonik n'est pas terminé(e) avant

que l'appareil ne soit testé pour vériﬁer le bon fonctionnement conformément aux spéciﬁcations.

1. Vériﬁer que l'appareil Searchzone Sonik est correctement monté et câblé. Pour les instructions, se

reporter à la section Installation du Manuel technique.

2. Se connecter à l'application mobile Searchzone Sonik via Bluetooth. Pour les instructions, se reporter

à la section Application mobile du Manuel technique.

3. Vériﬁer que les paramètres de l'appareil Searchzone Sonik sont conﬁgurés comme recommandé dans

le document d'étude de site pertinent.

Test fonctionnel périodique

La fonctionnalité de l'appareil Searchzone Sonik peut être vériﬁée à l'aide de l'outil de test portatif

Searchzone Sonik (en option) en combinaison avec l'application mobile.

Des ultrasons sont générés lors du fonctionnement de l'outil de test Searchzone Sonik. NE PAS pointer

l'outil en votre direction ou en direction du corps ou de la tête d'une autre personne.

ATTENTION

L'outil de test portatif Searchzone Sonik génère deux signaux de test différents pour vériﬁer le

fonctionnement du détecteur :

1) Le premier signal de test indique une fuite de gaz au détecteur. Le signalement se fait par

un changement de l'indicateur d'état de l'anneau DEL du détecteur. Le test est enregistré

automatiquement.

2) Le deuxième signal de test est utilisé pour le test de bout en bout. Le signalement se fait par

l'indicateur d'état de l'anneau DEL du détecteur, les relais ainsi que la boucle 420 mA pour indiquer la

condition d'alarme. Le test est enregistré automatiquement.
