Safety information
Electrical safety
To prevent electric shock hazard, disconnect the power cable from the electric outlet
before relocating the system.
When adding or removing devices to or from the system, ensure that the power cables
for the devices are unplugged before the signal cables are connected. If possible,
disconnect all power cables from the existing system before you add a device.
Before connecting or removing signal cables from the motherboard, ensure that all
power cables are unplugged.
Seek professional assistance before using an adapter or extension cord. These
devices could interrupt the grounding circuit.
Ensure that your power supply is set to the correct voltage in your area. If you are not
sure about the voltage of the electrical outlet you are using, contact your local power
company.
If the power supply is broken, do not try to x it by yourself. Contact a qualied service
technician or your retailer.
Operation safety
Before installing the motherboard and adding devices on it, carefully read all the
manuals that came with the package.
Before using the product, ensure that all cables are correctly connected and the power
cables are not damaged. If you detect any damage, contact your dealer immediately.
To avoid short circuits, keep paper clips, screws, and staples away from connectors,
slots, sockets and circuitry.
Avoid dust, humidity, and temperature extremes. Do not place the product in any area
where it may become wet.
Place the product on a stable surface.
If you encounter technical problems with the product, contact a qualied service
technician or your retailer.

CAUTION: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the
same or equivalent type recommended by the manufacturer. Dispose of used batteries
according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

1.1 Welcome!
Thank you for choosing the ASUS EBE-4U!
The ASUS EBE-4U provides cutting-edge performance and uncompromised reliability for
industrial use.
The system is powered by the ASUS motherboard that supports the 7th/6th Intel® Core™ i7 /
i5 / i3, Pentium® and Celeron® processors in the Intel® socket 1151.
The system supports up to 32 GB of system memory using DDR4 2400/2133 MHz DIMMs.
High-resolution graphics via integrated graphics controller or PCI Express x16 slots, SATA
6.0Gb/s, USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, USB 2.0 ports, and 8-channel audio features take you ahead
in the world of power computing.

1.3 Front panel
The front panel includes the optical drive bays, power button, reset button, LED indicators
and several I/O ports.
1. Cabinet cover. Use the key to lock or unlock the cabinet cover.
2. Reset button. Press this button to reset the system.
3. Power button. Press this button to turn the system on.
4. PLED. The LED lights up or blinks to indicate the status of the system power.
5. HLED. The LED lights up or blinks to indicate the status of the HDD.
6. 5.25-inch optical disk drive bay (empty). Allows you to install an additional optical
disk drive in this bay.
7. 3.5 inch drive bay. This 3.5 inch drive bay is for 3.5 inch hard disk drives / memory
card readers.
8. USB 2.0 ports. These Universal Serial Bus 2.0 ports connect to USB 2.0 devices such
as a mouse, printer, scanner, camera, PDA, and others.

1.4 Rear panel
The system rear panel includes the power connector and several I/O ports that allow
convenient connection of devices.
1. Microphone port (pink). This port connects to a microphone.
2. Line Out port (lime). This port connects to a headphone or speaker. In a 4, 5.1, or
7.1-channel conguration, the function of this port becomes Front Speaker Out.
3. Line In port (light blue). This port connects to a tape, CD, DVD player, or other audio
sources.
Refer to the audio conguration table below for the function of the audio ports in the 2, 4,
5.1, or 7.1-channel conguration.

4. LAN (RJ-45) ports. These ports allow Gigabit connection to a Local Area Network
(LAN) through a network hub.

5. HDMITM port. This port is for a High-Denition Multimedia Interface (HDMITM)
connector, and is HDCP compliant allowing playback of HD DVD, Blu-ray, and other
protected content.
6. VGA port. This port is for VGA-compatible devices such as a VGA monitor.
7. Serial ports. These 9-pin COM ports are for pointing devices or other serial devices.
8. PS/2 mouse port (green). This port is for a PS/2 mouse.
9. PS/2 keyboard port (purple). This port is for a PS/2 keyboard.
10. Power supply unit fan vent. This vent is for the PSU fan that provides ventilation
inside the power supply unit.
11. Expansion slot brackets. Remove the expansion slot bracket when installing an
expansion card.
12. Parallel port (optional). This 25-pin port connects a parallel printer, a scanner, or
other devices.
13. USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports. The Universal Serial Bus 3.2 Gen 1 (USB 3.2 Gen 1) ports
connect to USB 3.2 Gen 1 devices such as a mouse, printer, scanner, camera, PDA,
and others.
14. Air vents. These vents allow air ventilation.
DO NOT block the air vents on the chassis. Always provide proper ventilation for your
computer.
15. Serial ports (optional). These 9-pin COM ports are for pointing devices or other serial
devices.
16. Power connector. Plug the power cord to this connector.

2.1 Before you proceed
Take note of the following precautions before you install motherboard components or change
any motherboard settings.
CAUTION!
Unplug the power cord from the wall socket before touching any component.
Before handling components, use a grounded wrist strap or touch a safely grounded
object or a metal object, such as the power supply case, to avoid damaging them due
to static electricity.
Hold components by the edges to avoid touching the ICs on them.
Whenever you uninstall any component, place it on a grounded antistatic pad or in the
bag that came with the component.
Before you install or remove any component, always remove the AC power by
unplugging the power cord from the power outlet. Failure to do so may cause severe
damage to the motherboard, peripherals, or components.

2.2 Motherboard layout
NOTE: Place nine screws into the holes indicated by circles to secure the motherboard
to the chassis.
CAUTION! Do not overtighten the screws! Doing so can damage the motherboard.
