d) Store unused power tools out of reach of children and do
not allow them to be used by any unskilled people or ones
who are not aware of these instructions. Power tools are
dangerous if used by unskilled people.
e) Carry out the required maintenance on power tools.
Check any possible misalignment or locking of the
moving parts, any breakage of the parts and any other
condition that may affect the operation of power tools.
If there is any damage, the electrical tool must be fixed
before use. Numerous accidents are caused by improper
maintenance of power tools.
f) Keep the cutting elements, where fitted, clean and
sharpened. Cutting tools in good conditions and with
sharp edges are less likely to lock and can be controlled
more easily.
g) Use the power tool, accessories and blades according
to these instructions, considering the work conditions
and the operation to be performed. The use of the power
tool for operations other than those for which it is intended
may cause dangerous situations.
h) Keep a safe distance from moving parts. Touching
moving parts causes serious injury.
i) Do not modify the power tool. Taking off, replacing or
adding components not included in the instructions is pro-
hibited and causes the warranty to become null and void.
I) Do not leave the power tool running unattended. Turn
it off before leaving it unattended in order to prevent any
accidents.
5) Service
a) The power tool must be repaired exclusively by quali-
fied technicians and only identical spare parts should
be used. This guarantees the constant safety of the
electrical tool.
b) Do not attempt to repair the power tool or access its
internal parts. Repairs carried out by persons unqualified
and unauthorised by the manufacturer can create serious
hazards and void the warranty.
c) Request only original spare parts. The use of non-
original spare parts may compromise the safety of the
electrical tool.
SAFETY WARNINGS
FOR THE ELECTRIC POLE CHAINSAW
a) Keep all body parts away from the toothed chain when
the chainsaw is switched on. Before switching the
chainsaw on, make sure that the toothed chain is not
in contact with anything. A moment of distraction when
operating the chainsaw can result in clothes or body parts
getting snagged by the toothed chain.
b) Always grip the tool with both hands. Never hold the
chainsaw with just one hand, as this increases risks of
injury to your person.
c) Wear safety goggles and hearing protection. We
recommend using other protective equipment for the
head, hands and feet. Wearing suitable protective clothing
will reduce bodily injuries from flying debris, as well as
accidental contact with the chainsaw.
d) Never use the chainsaw on a tree. Using the chainsaw
when perched on a tree can cause bodily injuries.
e) Always keep a good foothold and operate the chainsaw
only when standing on a stationary, secure and level sur-
face. Slippery or unstable surfaces, such as ladders, can
cause a loss of balance or loss of control of the chainsaw.
f) When cutting a branch under tension, watch out for the
risk of kickbacks. When the tension of the wood fibres is
released, the branch can spring back and strike the opera-
tor and/or throw the chainsaw out of control.
g) Use extreme caution when pruning young bushes and
shrubs. Thin material can get stuck in the toothed chain
and be propelled in your direction and/or make you lose
your balance.
h) Carry your chainsaw by both handles when it’s turned
off, keeping it away from your body. When carrying or
putting the chainsaw away, always cover the guide bar.
Correctly handling the chainsaw will reduce the possibil-
ity of accidental contact with the moving toothed chain.
i) Follow the instructions on lubrication, chain tensioning
and replacement accessories. A chain without correct
tensioning and lubrication can both break and increase
the risk of kickback.
j) Keep the hand grips clean, dry, and free from oil and
grease. Greasy, oily handles are slippery, causing a loss
of control.
k) Only cut wood. Do not use the chainsaw for purposes
for which it was not intended. For example: do not use
the chainsaw for cutting plastics, construction materi-
als, or non-wood materials. The use of the chainsaw for
operations other than those for which it is intended may
cause dangerous situations.
Causes and prevention of kickback:
There is a risk of kickback when the tip or extremity of the
guide bar touches an object, or when the wood closes in
and pinches the toothed chain in the cut.
Contact with the extremity can, in some cases, cause a
sudden reverse reaction, pushing the guide bar upwards
and backwards towards the operator.
The pinching of the toothed chain along the upper part of
the bar may forcefully push the toothed chain backwards
towards the operator.
Any one of these reactions can cause a loss of control of
the chainsaw, and thus cause a serious injury to the person.
Do not rely exclusively on the safety devices built into the
chainsaw. The chainsaw user should take several steps to
eliminate the risk of accident or injury while pruning.
Kickback is the result of misuse of the tool and/or of incorrect
procedures or conditions of usage, and can be avoided by
taking proper precautions as specified below.
l) Hold the chainsaw firmly with both hands, with the
thumbs and fingers around the hand grips of the chain-
saw, and keep your body and arms in such a position
to allow you to withstand kickback forces. Kickback
forces can be controlled by the operator if the necessary
precautions are taken. Do not let go of the chainsaw.
m) Do not stretch your arms too far. This helps prevent ac-
cidental contact with the extremities and allows for better
control of the saw in unexpected situations.
n) Only use the guide bars and chains specified by the
manufacturer. Unsuitable replacement guides and chains
may cause a breakage of the chain and/or kickbacks.
o) Follow the instructions of the manufacturer concern-
ing the sharpening and maintenance of the chainsaw.
A decrease in the depth level can increase the risk of
kickbacks.
p) Keep the cable away from the cutting area. During
operation, the cable can get hidden behind shrubs and be
accidentally cut by the blade.
q) Do not stand under the cutting area and stay to the side
of the branch falling area.
