VENTILATION CAUTION

When installing this unit, make sure to leave space

around the unit for ventilation to improve heat radiation

(at least 5 cm at rear, and 5 cm at each side).

CAUTION

The switch on this unit will not completely shut off

all power from the AC outlet. Since the power cord

serves as the main disconnect device for the unit, you

will need to unplug it from the AC outlet to shut

down all power. Therefore, make sure the unit has

unplugged from the AC outlet in case of an accident.

To avoid re hazard, the power cord should also be

unplugged from the AC outlet when left unused for a

Be sure to read this manual and the “Operating Instructions.” These

before using the unit. In particular, be sure to read the IMPORTANT

edition, which describes a stream cipher allegedly compatible with RSA

Labs "RC4" cipher (the actual description of which is a trade secret).

seconde édition, qui décrit un chiffre continu annoncé comme

compatible avec le chiffre "RC4" de RSA Labs (dont la description

Connections

! Only connect the power cord to a power outlet after you’ve made all other connections.

Turn off the unit and disconnect the power cord from the outlet before connecting different devices or changing connections.

Basic style

You will use tracks prepared on your PC/Mac running rekordbox.

PRO DJ LINK (USB Export)

You can use rekordbox music files and data on a memory device such as a flash memory device or a hard disk drive without using your PC/Mac. You

can make performances using information such as playlists, cues, loop points and hot cues prepared on rekordbox.

Playback

This section describes basic track selection and how to switch the

screen.

Playing music files on media connected to

the unit

1 Open the [USB 1] or [USB 2] slot cover and connect a

USB device.

2 Press the [USB 1] or [USB 2] button.

Tracks and folders on the connected device are displayed in a list.

Use the following buttons to switch the displayed contents.

[USB 1] button: Displays the contents of the device connected to the

[USB 1] slot.

[USB 2] button: Displays the contents of the device connected to the

[USB 2] slot.

3 Turn the rotary selector.

Move the cursor to select an item.

! To open the lower level folder, press the rotary selector. To return

to the upper level folder, press the [BACK] button.

! To return to the top level folder, press the [BACK] button for 1

second or more, or press the [USB 1] or [USB 2] button.

4 Use the rotary selector to select a track you want to load.

To display the track menu, press the rotary selector while the cursor is

hovered over the track title.

5 Press the [LOAD 1] or [LOAD 2] button.

The track loads onto the selected deck of the unit and starts playing.

! When a track has been loaded while pausing, press the [f

(PLAY/PAUSE)] button to start playback.

! When Auto Cue is on, the track pauses at the start position. In this

case, press the [f (PLAY/PAUSE)] button to start playback.

If the media contains a rekordbox library

The rekordbox library is displayed if it’s stored in the connected USB

device.

! Music files are displayed by categories (album, artist, etc.) set with

rekordbox.

Playing a rekordbox library on your PC/Mac

or mobile device

Music files are displayed by categories (album, artist, etc.) set with

rekordbox.

1 Press the [rekordbox] button.

The rekordbox library is shown on the main display.

! Press the [USB 1] or [USB 2] button to select a mobile device

connected via USB.

2 Turn the rotary selector.

Move the cursor to select an item.

3 Use the rotary selector to select a track you want to load.

To display the track menu, press the rotary selector while the cursor is

hovered over the track title.

4 Press the [LOAD 1] or [LOAD 2] button.

The track loads onto the selected deck of the unit and starts playing.

Outputting sound

Check that the unit and the external devices are properly connected

before outputting sound.

Adjust the volume of the power amplifier or powered speakers

connected to the [MASTER1] and [MASTER2] output terminals to an

appropriate level. Note that loud sound may come out if the volume is

set too high.

1 Select the input selector switch.

Select the input source for each channel from the devices connected

to the unit.

To output sound from [CH1] or [CH2], this step isn’t necessary.

2 Turn the [TRIM] knob.

Adjust the sound level input to each channel.

When the sound is input to each channel, the channel level indicator

lights up.

3 Move the channel fader away from you.

Adjust the sound level output from each channel.

4 Select the [CROSSFADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B)]

switch.

Change the output destination for each channel.

5 Move the crossfader.

When the [CROSSFADER ASSIGN (A, THRU, B)] switch is set to

[THRU], this step isn’t necessary.

6 Turn the [MASTER LEVEL] knob.

The sound is output from the [MASTER 1] and [MASTER 2] output

terminals.

The master level indicator lights up.

Monitoring with headphones

1 Connect headphones to the [PHONES] output terminal.

2 Press the [CUE] button of the channel you’d like to

monitor.

3 Turn the [HEADPHONES MIX] knob.

Adjust the balance of the volume between the channel selected with

the [CUE] button and MASTER.

4 Turn the [HEADPHONES LEVEL] knob.

Adjust the headphones volume to a level you’re happy with.

Setting the monitor output

The [MONO SPLIT, STEREO] setting can be changed with UTILITY.

! [MONO SPLIT]: Outputs the sound of the channel selected with the

[CUE] button to [L] and the sound of MASTER to [R].

! [STEREO]: Outputs the sound selected with the [CUE] button in

stereo.

Quitting the system

1 Press the [USB STOP] button for 2 seconds or more.

Don’t disconnect the USB device or turn off the unit while the USB

indicator is lit or flashing. The management data of the unit may be

deleted. Also, the USB device may not be recognized on the unit.

2 Disconnect the USB device.

3 Close the USB slot cover.

4 Press the [u] switch.

The unit turns off.

! The unit may not work properly if it’s subjected to static electricity or other external influences. In this case, you may be able to restore proper

operation by turning off the power, disconnecting the power cord, connecting the power cable again, and then turning the power back on.

The Auto Standby function is activated as the default setting. If you don’t want

to use the Auto Standby function, select [OFF] for [AUTO STANDBY] on the

[UTILITY] screen.

Audio output

Set [ATT.] of [MASTER OUT] on the [UTILITY] screen to [-6 dB] or [-12 dB].

Is the [TRIM] knob set to the proper position? Adjust the [TRIM] knob so that the channel level indicator lights up in orange at

the highest volume. (page 12 )

Is the level of sound input to the [MIC 1] or

[MIC 2] input terminal set to an appropriate level?

Set the [MIC LEVEL] knob to the proper position.

Sound isn’t output, or the output

sound is distorted or noise occurs.

Is the unit placed near a TV? Turn the TV off, or place the unit farther away from the TV.

Microphone sound isn’t output or the

volume is low.

Is the [MIC LEVEL] knob set to the proper

Is an audio interface for a PC/Mac connected

between the turntable and the unit?

If the audio interface for a PC/Mac has a line level output, connect it to the

[LINE] input terminals. (page 9 )

If the turntable has a LINE, PHONO selector switch, set it to PHONO.

Display

Playing address isn’t displayed in the

remaining time display.

—Playing address may take time to be displayed for files recorded in VBR. This

happens when it takes time for the unit to detect the length of the track and

display the playing address.

The category isn’t displayed. Is the rekordbox library information stored on the

USB device?

Use a device containing the library information exported from rekordbox.

Is the USB device write-protected? Disable write-protection on the USB device to make it writable.

The scale isn’t displayed. Is the track over 15 minutes long? The scale isn’t displayed for tracks whose playing time is over 15 minutes.

The enlarged waveform isn’t

displayed.

Is the track over 60 minutes long? The enlarged waveform isn’t displayed for tracks whose playing time is over

60 minutes.

The unit doesn’t respond when the

screen is touched, or the response

is poor. The detected position is

different from the position actually

touched.

Deviation in touch display calibration. Adjust touch screen detection with the [TOUCH DISPLAY CALIBRATION]

settings on the [UTILITY] screen.

The SYNC function doesn’t work. Has the music file been analyzed? Analyze the music file.

The SYNC function doesn’t work

even when files are analyzed.

Is the beatgrid irregular?

Is the beatgrid properly set?

Set the beatgrid properly.

Are the BPMs of the tracks in the two decks too

different?

The SYNC function doesn’t work properly if the BPM of the track on the deck

for which the [SYNC (INST. DOUBLES)] button is pressed isn’t within the

adjustable tempo range of the track on the deck for which the [SYNC (INST.

DOUBLES)] button isn’t pressed.

Are you scratching? The SYNC function is disabled during scratching.

Settings aren’t saved. Did you turn the unit off directly after changing

the settings?

Before turning the unit off, wait for 10 seconds after changing the settings.

Make sure to press the [u] switch to turn the unit off.

PRO DJ LINK (LINK Export) doesn’t

work well.

Is the USB connection (LINK Export) driver

software installed?

For a USB connection, install the USB connection (LINK Export) driver

software.

Is the LAN cable properly connected? Connect the LAN cable to the [LINK (EXTENSION)] terminal properly.

USB devices

USB device isn’t recognized. Is the USB device properly connected? Connect the USB device securely (fully insert it).

Is the USB device connected via a USB hub? Don’t use a USB hub.

Is the USB device supported by the unit? The unit supports USB mass storage devices such as external hard disks and

portable flash memory devices.

Is the file format supported by the unit? Check that the file format of the connected USB device is supported by the unit.

Playback doesn’t start when a track is

loaded from a USB device.

Are the files playable? Check that the file format of the track is supported by the unit.

Is the Auto Cue function enabled? Press and hold down the [TIME MODE (AUTO CUE)] button for approximately

1 second or more to disable the Auto Cue function.

Files can’t be played. Is the file copyright-protected (by DRM)? Copyright-protected files can’t be played.

Music files can’t be played. Are the music files damaged? Play music files that aren’t damaged.

DJ software

The DJ software on your PC/Mac

can’t be used.

Is the USB cable properly connected? Connect the unit and your PC/Mac directly using the USB cable. USB hubs

Sound is interrupted when using the

DJ software.

Is the buffer size (latency) value appropriate? On a Windows, use the setting utility to set an appropriate buffer size value.

On a Mac, set the appropriate buffer size (latency) value for the DJ software.

Error messages

When the unit can’t work normally, an error code appears on the main display. Check the table below and take the measures indicated. If an error

code not shown on the table below is displayed, or the same error code is displayed again after taking the indicated action, ask your nearest Pioneer

authorized service center or your dealer to carry out repair work.

Lors de l’installation de l’appareil, veillez à laisser un

espace suffisant autour de ses parois de manière à

améliorer la dissipation de chaleur (au moins 5 cm à

L’interrupteur de cet appareil ne coupe pas

complètement celui-ci de sa prise secteur. Comme le

cordon d’alimentation fait office de dispositif de

déconnexion du secteur, il devra être débranché au niveau

hors tension. Par conséquent, veillez à installer l’appareil
