Hardware Warranty
This HP accessory is covered by a limited hardware warranty for a
period of one year from the date of purchase by the original end-user.
The type of service provided is return to an HP or repair-authorized

or replaced by a new unit, either of the same type or of an equivalent

HP Software Warranty
THIS WARRANTY STATEMENT TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER ANY

Ninety-Day Limited Software Warranty
HP warrants for a period of NINETY (90) DAYS from the date of the
purchase that the software product will execute its programming
instructions when all files are properly installed. HP does not warrant
that the software will be uninterrupted or error free. HP does not
warrant to the performance of usefulness of any software provided
with your computer product. Unless otherwise expressly provided by
HP, it is your own responsibility to obtain the latest version of any
software and support directly from the software owner or authorized
distributor. In the event that this software product fails to execute its
programming instructions during the warranty period, Customer’s
remedy shall be a refund or repair. Should HP be unable to replace the
media within a reasonable amount of time, Customer’s alternate
remedy shall be a refund of the purchase price upon return of the
product and all copies
Removable Media (If supplied)

HP warrants the removable media, if supplied, upon which this
product is recorded to be free from defects in materials and
workmanship under normal use for a period of NINETY (90) DAYS
from the date of purchase. In the event the media proves to be
defective during the warranty period, Customer’s remedy shall be to
return the media to HP for replacement. Should HP be unable to
replace the media within a reasonable amount of time, Customer’s
alternate remedy shall be a refund of the purchase price upon return
of the product and destruction of all other nonremovable media
copies of the software product.
Notice of Warranty Claims
Customer must notify HP in writing of any warranty claim not later
than thirty (30) days after the expiration of the warranty period.
The above warranty shall not apply to defects resulting from: misuse;
unauthorized modification; operation or storage outside the
environmental specifications for the product; in-transit damage;
improper maintenance; or defects resulting from use of non-HP
software, accessories, media, supplies, consumables, or such items not
designed for use with the product.
HP MAKES NO OTHER EXPRESS WARRANTY, WHETHER
WRITTEN OR ORAL WITH RESPECT TO THIS PRODUCT. ANY

USE. Customer may use the software on any one computer.
Customer may not network the software or otherwise use it on more
than one computer. Customer may not reverse assemble or
decompile the software unless authorized by law.
COPIES AND ADAPTATIONS. Customer may make copies or
adaptations of the software (a) for archival purposes or (b) when
copying or adaptation is an essential step in the use of the software
with a computer so long as the copies and adaptations are used in no
other manner.
OWNERSHIP. Customer agrees that he/she does not have any title or
ownership of the software, other than ownership of the physical
media. Customer acknowledges and agrees that the software is
copyrighted and protected under the copyright laws. Customer
acknowledges and agrees that the software may have been developed
by a third party software supplier named in the copyright notices
included with the software, who shall be authorized to hold the
Customer responsible for any copyright infringement or violation of
this Agreement.
TRANSFER OF RIGHTS IN SOFTWARE. Customer may transfer
rights in the software to a third party only as part of the transfer of all
rights and only if Customer obtains the prior agreement of the third
party to be bound by the terms of this License Agreement. Upon such
a transfer, Customer agrees that his/her rights in the software are
terminated and that he/she will either destroy his/her copies and
adaptations or deliver them to the third party.
SUBLICENSING AND DISTRIBUTION. Customer may not lease,
sublicense the software or distribute copies or adaptations of the
software to anyone in physical media or by telecommunication
without the prior written consent of Hewlett-Packard.
TERMINATION. Hewlett-Packard may terminate this software license
for failure to comply with any of these terms provided Hewlett-
Packard has requested Customer to cure the failure and Customer
has failed to do so within thirty (30) days of such notice.

UPDATES AND UPGRADES. Customer agrees that the software
does not include updates and upgrades which may be available from
Hewlett-Packard under a separate support agreement.
EXPORT CLAUSE. Customer agrees not to export or re-export the
software or any copy or adaptation in violation of the U.S. Export
Administration regulations or other applicable regulation.
U.S. GOVERNMENT RESTRICTED RIGHTS. Use, duplication, or
disclosure by the U.S. Government is subject to restrictions as set
forth in subparagraph (c)(1)(ii) of the Rights in Technical Data and

Mouse Guida all’uso
La presente guida descrive le modalità di installazione,utilizzo e pulizia del
mouse.Per il mouse ottico e il mouse con scroller vengono inoltre
illustrati l’uso dello scroller e la selezione delle opzioni
del mouse.Notare che il mouse funziona in Microsoft® Windows® 9x,
Windows® 2000,Windows® XP e Windows NT®.
1. Collegamento del Mouse
Mouse con scroller e mouse ottico
1. Spegnere il computer se si dispone di un mouse che si collega
alla porta PS/2. Per le connessioni USB,passare al punto 2.
2. Se si dispone di un mouse cordless,collegare il mouse
o il ricevitore alla porta mouse PS/2 o alla porta USB.
Collegare le estremità del cavo del mouse o del ricevitore
alla porta corrispondente.I connettori PS/2 e USB sono diversi.
3. Per il collegamento PS/2,accendere il computer e quindi installare il
software MouseWare® per poter utilizzare tutte le funzioni
del mouse.
2. Installazione del software
(Mouse con scroller e mouse ottico)
Con Windows 2000 e Windows XP (quando sarà disponibile) utilizzare il
driver predefinito del mouse con i modelli con scroller e ottici.
In ambiente Win 9x o Win NT4,se è necessario installare il driver
del mouse con scroller,utilizzare quello presente nel CD-ROM fornito in
dotazione.
In ambiente Win 98 confermare l'installazione del mouse ottico facendo
clic sui pulsanti Avanti che vengono visualizzati durante l'installazione
guidata del driver.Al termine fare clic sul pulsante Fine. Il nuovo mouse
ottico è ora installato.( W i n d ows NT4 e Win95 non supportano questo modello).

Il software MouseWare consente di assegnare funzioni ai pulsanti,
controllare lo spostamento del puntatore e configurare il mouse
in Windows 9x,Windows 2000 e Windows NT.
Scheda Setup rapido .In questa scheda sono visualizzate la figura
del mouse utilizzato e le funzioni assegnate ai pulsanti.Inoltre è possibile
configurare il mouse mediante l'installazione guidata.
Scheda Puntatori .Modifica l'aspetto del puntatore sullo schermo.
Scheda Pulsanti .Consente di assegnare le funzioni ai pulsanti e allo
scroller del mouse e di selezionare la quantità di scorrimento per
lo scroller. In questa scheda viene inoltre visualizzata la figura del mouse
e le funzioni assegnate ai pulsanti.
Scheda Moto . Consente di regolare la velocità e l'accelerazione
del puntatore, di selezionare l'opzione relativa alla traccia del puntatore
(solo Windows 9x e Windows 2000) e di attivare la funzione Spostamento
intelligente (solo Windows NT).
Scheda Dispositivi . Fornisce informazioni relative alla versione
e al mouse utilizzati.
Accesso al software
Per accedere al software MouseWare per Windows 9x,
Windows 2000 o Windows NT, fare clic sull'icona del mouse
nel Pannello di controllo di Windows 9x o Windows NT:
verrà così visualizzata la finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.

Assegnazione di funzioni ai pulsanti
È possibile assegnare ai pulsanti del mouse le funzioni più comuni
mediante la scheda Pulsanti della finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.
Queste funzioni comprendono Clic/Selezione, Menu contestuale/Selezione
alternativa,doppio clic,Risorse del computer,guida di Windows,pulsante
centrale, menuAvvio e Universal Scroll.
Per assegnare le funzioni ai pulsanti:
1. Visualizzare la finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse. Per ulteriori
informazioni vedere la sezione Accesso al software.
2. Fare clic sulla linguetta Pulsanti.Vengono visualizzate le funzioni
correntemente assegnate ai pulsanti.Le funzioni disponibili per ogni
pulsante sono elencate nella rispettiva casella di riepilogo
a discesa.È possibile assegnare queste funzioni a un pulsante o allo
scroller del mouse. (Per utilizzare lo scroller come un normale
pulsante del mouse è sufficiente premerlo.)
3. Per visualizzare l'elenco delle funzioni,fare clic sulla freccia rivolta
verso il basso. Per scorrere le funzioni non visualizzate, usare
la barra di scorrimento.Per selezionare una funzione,farvi clic sopra.
La funzione selezionata viene visualizzata ed evidenziata.
4. Fare clic su Opzioni per specificare le opzioni per AutoScroll
e Universal Scroll.È possibile definire le impostazioni per queste
funzioni solamente se queste sono state assegnate ai pulsanti
del mouse.
5. Una volta assegnate le funzioni ai pulsanti e definite le opzioni,
fare clic su OK per confermare le selezioni.

4. Uso del pulsante scroller
(Mouse con scroller e mouse ottico)
Il mouse e il software MouseWare consentono di eseguire
lo scorrimento in Windows 9x,Windows 2000 e Windows NT.
Scorrimento
Per scorrere in su,spostare lo scroller in avanti;per scorrere in giù,
spostarlo indietro.Lo scroller può essere utilizzato come un normale
pulsante del mouse semplicemente facendovi clic sopra (premendolo).
Per uno scorrimento più uniforme nelle applicazioni compatibili con
Microsoft Office 97 e Office 2000 usare la funzione di scorrimento
compatibile con Office 97/Office 2000,situata nella scheda Pulsanti della
finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.
Impostare lo scroller del mouse mediante la scheda Pulsanti
della finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse in modo tale da specificare la
quantità di scorrimento in rapporto allo spostamento dello scroller
stesso. Per impostare lo scorrimento:
1. Visualizzare la finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.Per ulteriori
informazioni vedere la sezione Accesso al software. Quindi fare clic
sulla linguetta Pulsanti.
2. (Facoltativo) Assegnare le funzioni Universal Scroll o AutoScroll
a un pulsante o allo scroller del mouse. (Si tenga presente
che lo scroller consente di eseguire lo scorrimento solamente
in senso orizzontale e verticale.)
3. Selezionare la casella di controllo Usa solo scorrimento compatibile
con Office 97/Office 2000 per attivare questa opzione.
4. (Facoltativo) Fare clic su Opzioni per visualizzare opzioni
supplementari relative a Universal Scroll e AutoScroll.
5. Fare clic su OK affinché le selezioni abbiano effetto.

AutoScroll
Questa funzione consente di scorrere automaticamente i documenti
senza dovere continuamente agire sullo scroller. È possibile
utilizzare la funzione di AutoScroll nelle applicazioni di Windows 9x
eWindows 2000 e in quelle compatibili con Office 97/Office 2000. Per
usare la funzione AutoScroll:
1. Usare la scheda Pulsanti per assegnare la funzione di AutoScroll
a un pulsante o allo scroller del mouse.
2. Posizionare il puntatore in un'applicazione o finestra compatibile.
3. Fare clic sullo scroller o sul pulsante del mouse fino a quando non
compare l'icona relativa all'AutoScroll.
4. Allontanare il mouse dall'icona AutoScroll per iniziare
lo scorrimento. Per effettuare uno scorrimento ininterrotto
non occorre continuare a muovere il mouse. La distanza tra
il puntatore e l'icona AutoScroll determina la velocità
di scorrimento:più il puntatore è lontano dall'icona,maggiore
è la velocità di scorrimento.
5. Per interrompere lo scorrimento automatico,premere un tasto
qualsiasi o uno dei pulsanti del mouse.
Universal Scroll
Consente di effettuare lo scorrimento del documento senza utilizzare le
barre di scorrimento o lo scroller del mouse.Per usare lo Universal
Scroll,premere il pulsante a cui è stata assegnata la funzione
e spostare il mouse nella direzione in cui si desidera eseguire
lo scorrimento.Per disattivare l'opzione, fare clic con un pulsante qualsiasi
del mouse.
Per assegnare la funzione Universal Scroll,usare la scheda Pulsanti della
finestra di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.Questa scheda consente inoltre di
selezionare la quantità di scorrimento. Se si seleziona
la casella di controllo Usa solo lo scorrimento compatibile con
Office 97/Office 2000,lo Universal Scroll funzionerà solamente
nelle applicazioni compatibili con Office 97/Office 2000.

Zoom
Con lo zoom si effettua l'ingrandimento e la riduzione dei documenti.
Questa funzione è disponibile solo nelle applicazioni compatibili
con Office 97/Office 2000 che supportano lo zoom.Per effettuare
lo zoom:
1. Posizionare il puntatore in un'applicazione o finestra compatibile con
Office 97/Office 2000 che supporta questa funzione.
2. Premere e tenere premuto il tasto Ctrl e contemporaneamente
eseguire una delle seguenti operazioni:
• per ingrandire, spostare lo scroller in avanti;
• per ridurre l'ingrandimento, spostare lo scroller indietro.
Zoom di dati
Consente di espandere e comprimere la struttura dei documenti elaborati
in applicazioni di trattamento testi o fogli elettronici. Per eseguire lo zoom
di dati:
1. Posizionare il puntatore in un'applicazione compatibile con Office 97/
Office 2000.
2. Collocare il puntatore sulle informazioni da ingrandire o ridurre.
3. Premere e tenere premuto il tasto Maiusc e contemporaneamente
eseguire una delle seguenti operazioni:
• per ingrandire, spostare lo scroller in avanti;
• per ridurre l'ingrandimento, spostare lo scroller indietro.
Nota :lo zoom di dati funziona solamente nelle applicazioni
compatibili con Office 97/Office 2000 che supportano questa
funzione. Per impostare lo zoom di dati,selezionare l’opzione
Usa solo scorrimento compatibile con Office 97/Office 2000
nella scheda Pulsanti.

5. Modifica dell'aspetto del puntatore
(Mouse con scroller e mouse ottico)
Per modificare l'aspetto del puntatore, usare la finestra di dialogo
Proprietà - Mouse.
Velocità puntator e.Stabilisce la velocità di spostamento
del puntatore sullo schermo e la distanza da esso percorsa quando
si sposta il mouse.
Traccia puntatore puntator e (solo Windows 9x e Windows 2000).Fa
sì che il puntatore lasci una scia dietro di sé quando si sposta
sullo schermo.Questa funzione rende più facile l'individuazione
del puntatore sugli schermi a cristalli liquidi dei computer laptop.
Combinazioni di puntatori .Si tratta di un gruppo di indicatori usati
come meccanismo principale per la selezione e il puntamento
in Windows.Per modificare l'aspetto del puntatore,selezionare
una combinazione diversa nella scheda Puntatori della finestra
di dialogo Proprietà - Mouse.
Impostazione predefinita posizionamento puntator e
(solo Windows NT).Consente di spostare automaticamente il puntatore
sul pulsante di comando predefinito nelle finestre di dialogo standard di
Windows.Grazie a questa funzione non occorre posizionare
manualmente il puntatore sul pulsante appropriato ogni volta che si apre
una finestra di dialogo.
6. Uso del mouse per utenti mancini
(Mouse con scroller)
Per impostare il mouse per utenti mancini,eseguire l'installazione guidata
del mouse selezionando l'opzione corrispondente nella scheda Setup
rapido oppure modificare le funzioni assegnate ai pulsanti
nella scheda Pulsanti.

2. Quindi fare clic sulla linguetta Pulsanti.
3. Nella casella di riepilogo a discesa per il pulsante destro selezionare
la funzione Clic/Selezione.Nella casella di riepilogo
a discesa per il pulsante sinistro selezionare la funzione Menu
contestuale/Selezione alternativa.
4. Fare clic su OK per confermare le modifiche.
7. Pulizia del mouse
(Soltanto per mouse non ottici)
Se i movimenti del puntatore sono irregolari,può darsi che occorra pulire
la sfera del mouse.
1. Rimuovere l'anello e quindi la sfera.Sulla parte inferiore
del mouse esercitare pressione nella direzione della freccia Open
(Apri) stampata sull'anello.
2. Spolverare la sfera con un panno pulito e non lanoso,
quindi soffiare delicatamente all'interno della gabbia per rimuovere
polvere e pulviscolo.
3. Controllare se vi è accumulo di polvere sui rulli di gomma all'interno
della gabbia.Di solito si manifesta sotto forma di una striscia intorno
alla parte centrale del rullo.
4. Se sono sporchi,pulire i rulli usando un batuffolo di cotone
leggermente imbevuto di alcol isopropilico. Una volta terminata
la pulizia,accertarsi che i rulli all'interno della gabbia siano
situati nei rispettivi canali.
5. Accertarsi che non rimanga lanugine sui rulli.
6. Rimontare la sfera e l'anello.
