IMPORTANT

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

This document contains important safety and operating

instructions. Please read these instructions carefully and

save them for future reference.

Before using the battery charger, read all the instructions and

cautionary markings on (1) the charger, (2) the battery, and (3) the

radio using the battery.

WARNINGS

1. To reduce risk of injury, charge only

rechargeable Motorola a

uthorized batteries

listed in Table 2 on page 5. Other batteries may

explode, causing personal

injury and

damage.

2. Use of accessories not recommended by

Motorola may result in

risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.

3. To reduce risk of damage to the e

l

ectric plug and cord, pull by

the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the charger.

4. An extension cord should not b

e used

unless absolutely

necessary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in

risk of fire and electric shock. If an extension cord must be

used, make sure that the cord size is 18 AWG for lengths up

to 100 feet (30.48 m), and 16 AWG for lengths up to 150 feet

(45.72 m).

5. To reduce risk of fire, electrical shock, or injury, do not operate

the ch

if it has been broken or damaged in any way. Take

it to a qualified Motorola service representative.

6. Do not disassemble the charger; it is not repairable and

replacement p

ts are not available. Disassembly of the

charger may result in risk of electrical shock or fire.

OPERATIONAL SAFETY GUIDELINES

• Turn radio off when charging battery.

• This equipment is not suitable for outdoor use. Use only in dry

locations / conditions.

• Connect equipment only to an appropriately fused and wired

su

pply of the cor

rect voltage (as specified on the product).

• Disconnect from line voltage by removing the power

plug from

the outlet.

• The socket outlet to which this equipment is connected should

be close by and easily accessible.

• Maximum ambient temperature around the power supply

equipment must not exceed 40 °C (104 °F).

•

Output power from the power supply unit must not exceed the

ratings stated on the p

roduct label located on the bottom of the

charger.

• Make sure the cord is located where it will not be stepped on,

tripped over, or

subjected to water, damage, or stress.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

The Single-Unit Charger will charge only the Motorola

authori

zed batteries listed in Table 2. Other batteries may not

charge.

The battery charger’s pocket will accommodate either a radio with

a battery attached or a battery alone. Prior to charging a battery

with radio, turn the radio off. Batteries charge best at room

temperature.

Charging Procedure

1. Plug the charger end of the power supply cord into the power

recept

a

cle located at the back of the charger (refer to

Figure 1).

2. Plug the wall receptacle end of the power supply cord into the

appropriate AC outlet. A successfu

l power-up sequence is

indicated by a SINGLE GREEN BLINK on the charger

indicator.

3. Insert a battery, or a radio with battery (radio turned off), into

the charger's pocke

t by:

a. aligning the groove on each side of the battery with the

corresponding r

aised rail on each side of the charger

pocket

b. pressing the battery toward the rear of the pocket

c. sliding the battery into the charger pocket, ensuring

complete cont

act between the charger and battery

contacts.

4. When the battery is properly seated in the pocket, the charger

LED will light red to indicat

e that the battery is charging rapidly.

When the battery is 90 % charged, the LED will begin to blink

green to indicate that the battery is trickle charging. When the

battery is fully charged, the LED will change to a steady green

light to indicate that the battery is fully charged. Refer to the

charging indicators in Table 1.

5. To remove a radio or battery from the charger, use both hands

- hold and suppor

t the charg

er with one hand and remove the

radio or battery with the other hand.

Note: Even though new batteries might prematurely indicate a

full char

ge (steady green LED), charge the battery for 14 to

16 hours prior to initial use for best performance.

3. Para reducir la posibilidad de daños al cable y al enchufe

eléctrico

s, tire del enchufe y no del cable al desconectar el

cargador.

4. No debe usarse cable de extensión, salvo que sea

inadecuado se corre peligro de incendio y choque eléctrico.

Si es necesario usar un cable de extensión, asegúrese de

que el calibre del cable sea 18 AWG para longitudes de hasta

30 metros (100 pies) y 16 AWG para longitudes de hasta

45 metros (150 pies).

NORMAS DE SEGURIDAD EN LA OPERACIÓN

INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN

El cargador individual cargará solamente las baterías

aprobadas por Motorola que aparecen en la Tabla 2. Otras

baterías probablemente no podrán ser cargadas.

La cavidad del cargador de baterías acepta ya sea un radio con una

batería instalada

, o bien una batería sola. Antes de cargar una

batería instalada en un radio, apague el radio. Las baterías se

cargan mejor a temperatura ambiente.

Procedimiento de carga

1. Enchufe uno de los extremos del cable de alimentación en el

receptáculo de alimentación ubicado en la parte posterior del

cargador (ver Figura 1).

2. Enchufe el otro extremo del cable de alimentación al

tomacorrie

nte de CA correspondiente. Una vez que el cargador

ejecuta correctamente la secuencia inicial de encendido su LED

indicador emite un BREVE DESTELLO VERDE.

3. Inserte una batería, o un radio con batería (el radio deberá estar

apa

gado), en la cavidad del cargador. Para ello:

a. alinee las ranuras ubicadas a cada lado de la batería con

sus respectivas g

uías dispuestas a cada lado de la cavidad

del cargador

b. presione la batería hacia la parte posterior de la cavidad

c. deslice la batería hacia dentro de la cavidad del cargador;

asegúrese

de que los terminales del cargador y de la

batería hagan buen contacto.

4. Cuando la batería está debidamente asentada en la cavidad,

el LED del cargador se enciende de color rojo para indicar que

la batería

se está cargando rápidamente. Cuando la batería

alcanza el 90 % de su carga máxima, el LED comienza a

parpadear de color verde para indicar que la batería se

encuentra en régimen de carga de mantenimiento. Cuando

la batería está completamente cargada, el LED se torna verde

continuo para indicar que la batería está completamente

cargada. Consulte los indicadores de carga en la Tabla 1.

5. Use las dos manos para retirar un radio o una batería IMPRES

de la cavidad

del cargador: sujete con una mano el cargador,

y con la otra retire el radio o la batería.

6. Nota:

Las baterías nuevas podrían indican prematuramente que

están completamente cargadas (LED verde continuo); por ello,

antes de usar por primera vez una batería nueva, cárguela

durante 14 a 16 horas para lograr un rendimiento óptimo.

Las baterías se cargan mejor a temperatura ambiente.
