Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of the Marmitek MegaView 60! The MegaView 60

enables you to easily extend an HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) signal or

DVI (Digital Visual Interface) over two CAT5e/6 cables. Maximum CAT5e/6 cable

length is 30 metres for 1080p resolution and 60 metres for 480p resolution. Appliances

connected to this may include an HD set-top box, media center PC, HD-media player,

blu-ray disk player or game console.

All Marmitek products are manufactured with the utmost precision and are of high

quality. Please read this manual carefully and follow the instructions to enjoy the

possibilities of this product optimally.

Instead of CAT5e cable, CAT6 cable may also be applied (this offers better quality).

Use a ‘solid twisted pair CAT-5e or CAT-6 cable’ in order to optimise transfer quality.

Installation

In order to ensure that the system is working properly you are advised to check the set-

up with short CAT-5e/6 cable lengths first.

1. Switch off all appliances before you start connecting.

2. Connect the HDMI source (HD-DVD player, Blu-ray disc player, HD set-top box,

game console, etc.) to the MegaView 60 transmitter [1], using an HDMI cable (not

provided).

3. Connect the MegaView 60 receiver to the appliance shown [2] (e.g. HDTV or

projector), using an HDMI cable (not provided).

4. Use two CAT5e/6 Ethernet cables to connect the MegaView 60 transmitter with

the MegaView 60 receiver [3&4].

*The RJ45 plug on these cables must be connected according to EIA/TIA T568B

standard, see attachment page xx.

Make sure that the CAT5e/6 cable and the transmitter and receiver connections

(CAT5e-1 en CAT5e-2) correspond to one another.

5. Connect the power adapter [5] to the ‘DC/5V’ connection on the MegaView 60

receiver (HDMI Receiver) and plug the adapter into a socket.

6.1 Usage

1. Switch on the HDMI source (e.g. HD set-top box or multi media PC).

2. Switch on the display device (for instance HDTV or projector) and select the

appropriate input. Usually you will do this by pressing the A/V or EXT button of

your remote control.

3. You will receive images from the connected A/V device immediately.

Frequently asked questions (FAQs)

Bad (or no) image and sound

• Ensure that the CAT5e/6 cables are connected correctly between the

MegaView60/61 transmitter and receiver (CAT5e-1 to CAT5e-1 and CAT5e-2 to

CAT5e-2).

• Check if the A/V device is switched on.

• Use only CAT5e/CAT6 cable as specified in chapter 3 (CAT5e Cable

Requirements).

• Check if the CAT5e/CAT6 cable provides a solid connection (no cable faults).

• Check if the RJ-45 has been connected according to the EIA/TIA T568B standard.

• Please ensure that the maximum cable length is not exceeded.

• Install your system as far away from any RF sources (wireless devices) as

possible.

• Set a low resolution on your HDMI source. The CAT5e/6 cable used probably

cannot deal with the higher resolution bandwidth.

3 Einführung

Herzlichen Glückwunsch zum Erwerb des Marmitek MegaVieuw 60! Der MegaView 60

macht es auf einfache Weise möglich, ein HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface)

Signal oder DVI (Digital Visual Interface) über zwei CAT5e/6 Ethernet Kabel zu

verlängern. Die Höchstlänge des CAT5e/6 Kabels beträgt 30 Meter bei 1080p

Auflösung und 60 Meter bei 480p Auflösung. Geräte die hieran angeschlossen werden

können sind beispielsweise eine HD Set Top Box, Media Center PC, HD-Media Player,

Blue-Rau Disk-Player oder Game-Pulte.

Die Produkte Marmiteks werden mit großer Sorgfalt hergestellt und sind von hoher

Qualität. Lesen Sie diese Anleitung bitte sorgfältig durch und befolgen Sie die

Anweisungen, um die Möglichkeiten dieses Produkts optimal nutzen zu können.

6 Installation

Zur Kontrolle der Betriebsfähigkeit des Systems empfehlen wir, die von Ihnen geplante

Aufstellung zunächst mit kurzen CAT-5e/6 Kabellängen auszuprobieren.

1. Schalten Sie, bevor Sie beginnen, sämtliche Geräte aus.

2. Schließen Sie die HDMI Quelle (HD-DVD Player, Blu-Ray Disc Player, HD-Set

Top Box, Game-Pult usw.) mithilfe eines HDMI Kabels (nicht im Packungsinhalt

enthalten) an den MegaView 60 Sender [1] an.

3. Schließen Sie den MegaView 60 Empfänger mithilfe eines HDMI Kabels (nicht im

Packungsinhalt enthalten) an Ihr Wiedergabegerät [2] (beispielsweise HDTV oder

Projektor) an.

4. Verwenden Sie zwei CAT5e/6 Ethernet-Kabel um den Sender und den

Empfänger miteinander zu verbinden [3 & 4].

* Der RJ45 Stecker dieses Kabels muss gemäß der Belegung EIA/TIA T568B

angeschlossen sein (siehe Anlage Seite xx.)

Achten Sie darauf, dass die CAT5e/6 Kabelanschlüsse des Senders und Empfängers

(CAT5e-1 en CAT5e-2) miteinander korrespondieren.

5. Schließen Sie den Speisungsadapter [5] an den "DC/5V" Anschluss des

MegaView60 Empfängers an (HDMI Receiver) an und stecken Sie den Adapter in

eine Steckdose.

6.1 Anwendung

1. Schalten Sie die HDMI Quelle ein (z.B. HD Set Top Box oder Multimedia PC).

2. Schalten Sie das Wiedergabegerät ein (z.B. HD-Fernseher oder Projektor) und

wählen Sie den richtigen Eingang. Zumeist müssen Sie dazu die A/V oder die

EXT Taste Ihrer Fernbedienung drücken.

3. Sie empfangen vom angeschlossenen A/V Gerät sofort Bild.

• Überprüfen Sie, ob die CAT5e/6 Kabel auf richtige Art und Weise zwischen dem

MegaView60/61 Sender und Empfänger angeschlossen sind (CAT5e-1 an

CAT5e-1 und CAT5e-2 an CAT5e-2)

• Überprüfen Sie, ob das A/V Gerät eingeschaltet ist.

• Verwenden Sie, wie in Kapitel 3, Anforderungen, erläutert, nur CAT5e/CAT6

Kabel.

• Prüfen Sie, ob das CAT5e/CAT6 Kabel eine gute Verbindung herstellt (keine

Bruchstellen).

• Prüfen Sie, ob der RJ-45 Anschluss gemäß der EIA/TIA T568B Norm

• Überschreiben Sie die maximale Kabellänge nicht.

• Installieren Sie Ihr System möglichst nicht nahe RF Quellen (drahtlose Geräte).

das verwendete CAT5e/6 Kabel die Bandbreite höherer Auflösungen nicht

bewältigen.

3 Introduction

Nous vous félicitons d’avoir choisi Marmitek MegaView 60! MegaView 60 rend possible

de façon simple de prolonger un signal HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) ou

DVI (Digital Visual Interface) sur deux câbles CAT5e/6 Ethernet. La longueur maximale

du câble CAT5e/6 est de 30 mètres pour une résolution 1080p et 60 mètres pour une

résolution 480p. Les appareils qui peuvent être raccordés sont par exemple un set-top

box HD, un PC media centre, un lecteur HD-Media, un lecteur Blu-Ray ou une console

de jeux.

Au lieu d’un câble CAT5e on peut utiliser un câble CAT6 (de meilleure qualité). Afin de

rendre la qualité de transmission optimale utilisez un câble paire torsadées solide CAT-

5e ou CAT-6.

6 Installation

Pour contrôler le bon fonctionnement du système nous conseillons de tester d’abord le

montage avec des longueurs de câble CAT-5e/6 courtes.

1. Débranchez tous les appareils avant de commencer à raccorder.

2. Raccordez la source HDMI (lecteur HD-DVD, lecteur Blu-Ray Disc, HD set-top

box, console de jeux, etc.) à l’émetteur MegaView 60 [1] à l’aide du câble HDMI

(non livré).

3. Raccordez le récepteur MegaView 60 sur votre appareil de reproduction [2] (par

exemple votre HDTV ou projecteur) à l’aide du câble HDMI (non livré).

4. Utilisez deux câbles CAT5e/6 Ethernet afin de relier entre eux l’émetteur et le

récepteur de MegaView60 [3 & 4].

* Le bouchon RJ45 de ces câbles doit être raccordé selon les normes EIA/TIA T568B,

voir l’annexe page xx.

Attention : veillez à ce que les raccordements de l’émetteur et du récepteur du câble

CAT5e/6 (CAT5e-1 en CAT5e-2) correspondent.

5. Raccordez l’adaptateur d’alimentation [5] sur le raccordement « DC/5V » du

récepteur MegaView 60 (Récepteur HDMI) et branchez l’adaptateur dans une

prise.

6.1 Utilisation

1. Allumez la source HDMI (par exemple set-top box HD ou PC Multi media).

2. Allumez l’appareil de reproduction (par exemple TV ou projecteur) et sélectionnez

la source. En général, vous appuyez sur « A/V » ou « EXT » de votre

télécommande pour la sélectionner.

3. L’image de l’appareil A/V s’affiche immédiatement.

7 Foire aux questions (FAQ)

Image et son sont mauvais ou absents

• Vérifiez que les câbles CAT5e/6 soient correctement raccordés entre l’émetteur et

le récepteur MegaView60/61 (CAT5e-1 sur CAT5e-1 et CAT5e-2 sur CAT5e-2).

• Vérifiez si l’appareil A/V est allumé.

• Utilisez uniquement le câble CAT5e/CAT6 comme spécifié en chapitre 3.

Exigences.

• Vérifiez si le câble CAT5e/CAT6 réalise la connexion (pas de cassures).

• Vérifiez si RJ-45 est connectée selon la norme EIA/TIA T568B Voir annexe page

• Assurez-vous que la longueur maximale du câble n’est pas dépassée.

• Évitez d’installer votre système près de sources RF (appareils sans fils).

• Réglez une résolution inférieure sur votre source HDMI, le câble CAT5e/6 utilisé

peut ne pas être capable de gérer la bande passante de résolutions supérieures.
