Produktes bzw. dessen Einbau diese Bedienungs-
anleitung aufmerksam durch. Bewahren Sie diese

1.1 Sicherheitshinweise
Vorsicht:
Verletzungsgefahr!
Für die Montage sind Werkzeuge nötig.
Stromschlaggefahr!
Die Anschlussdrähte niemals in eine Steckdo-
se einführen! Verwendetes Versorgungsgerät
(Transformator, Netzteil) regelmäßig auf Schäden
überprüfen. Bei Schäden am Versorgungsgerät
dieses keinesfalls benutzen!
Alle Anschluss- und Montagearbeiten nur bei
abgeschalteter Betriebsspannung durchführen!
Ausschließlich nach VDE/EN gefertigte Modell-
bahntransformatoren verwenden!
Stromquellen unbedingt so absichern, dass es
bei einem Kurzschluss nicht zum Kabelbrand
kommen kann.
1.2 Das Produkt richtig verwenden
Dieses Produkt ist bestimmt:
- Zum Einbau in Modelleisenbahnanlagen und
Dioramen.
- Zum Anschluss an einen Modellbahntransformator
(z. B. Art. 5200) bzw. an eine Modellbahnsteue-
rung mit zugelassener Betriebsspannung.
- Zum Betrieb in trockenen Räumen.
Jeder darüber hinausgehende Gebrauch gilt als
nicht bestimmungsgemäß. Für daraus resultierende
Schäden haftet der Hersteller nicht.
1.3 Packungsinhalt überprüfen
Kontrollieren Sie den Lieferumfang auf Vollstän-
digkeit:
- Soundmodul
- 2 Schrauben
- 6 Stecker

1.1 Safety instructions
Caution:
Risk of injury!
Tools are required for installation.
Electrical hazard!
Never put the connecting wires into a power
socket! Regularly examine the transformer for
damage. In case of any damage, do not use the
transformer.
Make sure that the power supply is switched
o when you mount the device and connect the
cables!
Only use VDE/EN tested special model train
transformers for the power supply!
The power sources must be protected to avoid
the risk of burning cables.
1.2 Using the product for its correct purpose
This product is intended:
- For installation in model train layouts and dioramas.
- For connection to an authorized model train
transformer (e. g. item 5200) or a digital com-
mand station.
- For operation in dry rooms only.
Using the product for any other purpose is not
approved and is considered inappropriate. The
manufacturer is not responsible for any damage
resulting from the improper use of this product.

2. Einleitung
Genießen Sie die Modellwelt mit allen Sinnen.
Noch lebendiger werden Modellbahnen und
Dioramen mit passender Geräuschkulisse.
Viessmann Soundmodule sind mit Geräuschen
für verschiedene Themen erhältlich. Sie sind dank
ihres eingebauten Lautsprechers einfach zu in-
stallieren, sehr kompakt und sofort betriebsbereit.
Die Lautstärke sowie die Wiedergabedauer sind
selbstverständlich regelbar. Die auf den Modulen
enthaltenen Geräusche sind fest installiert und nicht
austauschbar.
2.1 Synchronsteuerung
Dieses Modul verfügt über einen Steuerausgang
und erzeugt bewegungssynchrone Sounds passend
zu geeigneten Bahnschranken.
3. Einbau
Die Befestigung des Bausteins erfolgt mit den beilie-
genden Schrauben. Für optimalen Klang beachten
Sie folgende Hinweise:
1. Der Lautsprecher ist im Modul integriert. Für
eine gute Schallverteilung darf die Oberseite des
Moduls nicht verdeckt sein.
2. Soundmodul möglichst in Richtung der
Zuschauer/Zuhörer ausrichten, also keine
Über-Kopf-Montage unter der Anlage.
3. Das Soundmodul sollte sich dort benden, wo
das entsprechende Funktionsmodell auf Ihrer
Anlage vorkommt. Sie können das Modul auch
auf der Anlage (z. B. in einem Gebäude etc.)
einbauen. So erreichen Sie noch besseren
Klang und eine bessere Übereinstimmung von
sichtbarer und hörbarer Geräuschquelle.
2. Introduction
Enjoy the model world with all your senses. Model
train layouts and dioramas become even more re-
alistic and lifelike with the appropriate background
sound.
Viessmann sound modules are available with
sounds tting for dierent subjects. They are very
compact, immediately operational and easy to in-
stall due to the integrated loudspeaker. Of course,
the volume can be adjusted. The sounds of the
modules are an integrated part and cannot be
exchanged.
2.1 Synchronized control
The module is equipped with a control output so
that it can generate motion-synchronized sounds
suitable for the respective level crossings.
3. Mounting
Fasten the module with the enclosed screws. To
ensure an optimal sound reproduction of the mod-
ule, please note the following hints:
1. The loudspeaker is an integrated part of the
module. The upper surface of the module must
always be uncovered in order to ensure a good
sound dispersion.
2. The sound module must always be adjusted to
the direction of the spectator, so please avoid
upside down mounting under the layout.
3. The sound module should be installed close to
the respective functional model on your layout.
You can also install the module on the layout, e.
g. in a building. This way you can achieve a bet-
ter sound and an optimal concordance between
the visible and the audible sound source.

4. Anschluss
Geeignete Kabel: Der geringe Strombedarf des
Soundmoduls erlaubt es, entsprechend klein di-
mensionierte Kabel, die sich gut versteckt verlegen
lassen, zu verwenden. Wir empfehlen Litze mit
einem Querschnitt von 0,14 mm² (z. B. Viessmann
Art. 6860 – 6869 oder 68603 – 68693).
4.1 Anschluss des Synchronausgangs
Von diesem Soundmodul werden die Schranken
und weitere Module angesteuert. Beachten Sie bitte
die folgenden Abbildungen:
Soundmodul, Art. 5556 an Art. 5100, 5700, oder
5900 (Abb. 2), Soundmodul, Art. 5556 an Art. 5104,
5107 oder 5108 (Abb. 3).
Zum Ein- und Ausschalten der Modelle (Art. 5100,
5700, 5900) sowie des Soundmoduls benötigen
Sie einen Schalter oder Taster, der an den Buchsen
„Synchroneingang“ angeschlossen ist. Viessmann
empehlt hierzu den Universal-Ein-Aus-Umschalter,
Art. 5550 oder das Tasten-Stellpult, 2-begrig, Art.
5547. Wenn gemäß Abb. 5 auch Module wie das
einfache Andreaskreuz, Art. 5065 geschaltet werden
sollen, dann verwenden Sie Art. 5550.
4. Connection
Suitable cables: Due to the low current consump-
tion thin cables can be used which can easily be
hidden. It is recommended to use a cross section
of 0.14 mm² (e. g. Viessmann items 6860 – 6869
or 68603 – 68693).
4.1 Connection of the synchronized output
This sound module controls the barriers and other
modules. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the
corresponding gures:
Sound module, item 5556 to items 5100, 5700 or
5900 (g. 2), sound module, item 5556 to items
5104, 5107 or 5108 (g. 3).
You need a switch or a push-button to operate the
models (items 5100, 5700, 5900) as well as the
sound module. The switch is connected to the con-
nection sockets “synchronous input”. Viessmann
recommends the universal on-o switch, item 5550
or the push button panel 2-aspect, item 5547. If
you want to switch modules such as the simple St.
Andrew’s cross, item 5065 (as shown in g. 5), you
should use item 5550.

4.2 Anschluss eines externen
Lautsprechers
Das Soundmodul verfügt über einen Ausgang für
einen externen Lautsprecher mit den elektrischen
Werten mind. 8 Ohm Impedanz und mind. 1/2 Watt
Leistung (erhältlich im Elektronik-Fachhandel). Bei
Anschluss eines externen Lautsprechers wird der
eingebaute Lautsprecher ausgeschaltet.
1. Ziehen Sie das kurze blaue, am Soundmodul be-
ndliche Kabel, aus der Buchse rechts daneben.
2. Isolieren Sie das blaue Kabel, so dass es keinen
Kontakt mit anderen Kabeln haben kann.
3. Montieren Sie den externen Lautsprecher am
vorgesehenen Einbauort.
4. Verlegen Sie die beiden Anschlussleitungen des
externen Lautsprechers zum Soundmodul.
5. Verbinden Sie die Anschlussleitungen mit den
beiden Buchsen gemäß Abb. 7.
Zum Anschluss eignen sich Stecker und Muen wie
beispielsweise die Viessmann Art. 6875 (Stecker
orange) und Art. 6884 (Mue orange).
4.3 Anschluss bei anderen
Schrankentypen
Wenn Sie das Soundmodul mit einem anderen
Schrankentyp verwenden möchten, können Sie das
Soundmodul mit einem Schaltdecoder steuern (Abb.
4). Entweder Sie schalten das Soundmodul auf der
selben Adresse wie die Schranke oder Sie steuern
es unabhängig und könnten somit dem Warnsignal
einen zeitlichen Vorlauf gewähren.
4.2 Connection of an external
loudspeaker
The sound module is equipped with an output for
an external loudspeaker with electrical values of 8
ohm impedance at least and 1/2 watt power (can
be purchased from a specialist shop for electron-
ics). In case you connect an external loudspeaker
the incorporated loudspeaker will be switched o.
1. Please pull the short blue cable from the sound
module out of the socket right beside it.
2. Insulate the blue cable to avoid any contact with
other cables.
3. Mount the external loudspeaker to the intended
place.
4. Install the two wires of the external loudspeaker
to the sound module.
5. Connect the two wires to the two sockets accord-
ing to g. 7.
You can use plugs and sockets for the connection,
e. g. Viessmann item 6875 (orange plug) and item
6884 (orange socket).
4.3 Connection of other barrier types
If you want to use the sound module with other bar-
rier types, you can control it with a switch decoder
(g. 4). You either switch the sound module at the
same address as the barrier or you control it inde-
pendently and thus grant the warning signal a time
advantage.

5. Betrieb
Eine Spannung am Synchroneingang löst das
Abspielen des ausgewählten Sounds aus. Durch
die Zeiteinstellung wird die Dauer bestimmt
(Kapitel 5.2). In Verbindung mit der Art. 5104,
Bahnschranke, stellt sich die Zeit automatisch ein,

In connection with item 5104, level crossing barrier,
time set is automatic, unless the potentiometer is

außer das Potentiometer steht am rechten An-
schlag. Dann erfolgt eine unendliche Wiedergabe
des hinterlegten Sounds. Bei anderen Schranken
(z. B. Art. 5100, 5700 oder 5900, s. Abb. 5) wird die
Wiedergabedauer, passend zur Bewegungszeit der
Schranke, manuell eingestellt (Abb. 6).
5.1 Lautstärke einstellen
Sie können die Wiedergabelautstärke des Sound-
moduls einstellen. Diese Einstellung gilt sowohl
für den eingebauten als auch für einen alternativ
verwendbaren externen Lautsprecher. Bei einer
Lautstärkeneinstellung darf keine Verbindung von
der Versorgung zu der „Zeit-Buchse“ vorliegen.
Zum Einstellen der Lautstärke verwenden Sie bitte
einen geeigneten Schraubendreher (Schlitz) wie in
Abb. 8 gezeigt:
- Lauter:
Drehen Sie das Potentiometer nach rechts.
- Leiser:
Drehen Sie das Potentiometer nach links.
5.2 Wiedergabe-Dauer einstellen
Sie können an diesem Soundmodul auch die
Dauer der Wiedergabe zur Anpassung an mecha-
nische Schranken einstellen. Dazu wird mit einer
Leitung die Versorgung mit der dazu vorgese-
henen „Zeit-Buchse“ verbunden (Abb. 6). Wenn
diese Verbindung besteht, kann nun die Dauer der
Wiedergabe je nach Wunsch eingestellt werden.
Achtung!
Um die Lautstärkeeinstellung beizubehalten,
trennen Sie nach der Einstellung der Wieder-
gabedauer die Verbindung der Zeit-Buchse zur
Versorgung.

5.1 Volume adjustment
The sound module is equipped with a volume
control for the sound. The adjustment is valid both
for the integrated loudspeaker and for an external
loudspeaker. When adjusting the volume, there
must not be any connection between the power
supply and the “time socket”. To adjust the vol-
ume, use a slotted screwdriver and proceed as
described in g. 8:
- Increase volume:
Turn the potentiometer to the right.
- Reduce volume:
Turn the potentiometer to the left.
5.2 Adjust playback duration
With this sound module you can also synchronise
the playback duration with mechanical barriers. For
this purpose you connect the power with the desig-
nated “time socket” (g. 6). Once this connection is
made you can adjust the playback duration acc. to
your requirements.
Caution!
In order to maintain the volume setting, separate
the connection between power and “time socket”
after you have adjusted the playback duration.

5.3 Choose a sound
For the comfortable choice of a sound we recom-
mend the use of a universal push-button panel,
e. g. Viessmann item 5547. Connect the sound
module as shown in g. 9.
1. Detach sound module from power supply, e. g.
by switching o the transformer, interruption of
the mains etc.
2. Push the lower left push-button of the push-
button panel and keep it pressed.
3. Restore the power supply while pushing the
push-button for ca. 1 second, but not for longer
than 2 seconds!
After disengaging the push-button, the sound mod-
ule is in the select mode. It plays: “Please choose
a sound!” in German and English. Then the rst
sound is continuously played.
4. Repeat pushing the push-button briey to select
a sound.
5. Push and hold the push-button for more than 2
seconds to conrm and save the selection.
6. For changing sounds repeat steps 1 – 5 as often
as needed.
5.3 Sound auswählen
Zur komfortablen Auswahl eines Sounds empfehlen
wir die Verwendung eines Universal-Tasten-Stellpul-
tes, z. B. Viessmann Art. 5547. Schließen Sie das
Soundmodul gemäß Abb. 9 an.
1. Stromzufuhr unterbrechen, z. B. durch Ausschal-
ten des Trafos, Unterbrechung der Netzspan-
nung etc.
2. Drücken Sie den unteren linken Taster auf dem
Tastenstellpult und halten Sie ihn gedrückt.
3. Stromzufuhr wiederherstellen – dabei den Taster
ca. 1 Sekunde gedrückt halten, aber nicht länger
als 2 Sekunden!
Lassen Sie den Taster los. Das Modul bendet sich
nun im Soundauswahlmodus. Es spielt den Satz:
“Bitte Sound auswählen!“ in Deutsch und Englisch.
Anschließend wird der erste Sound kontinuierlich
wiedergegeben.
4. Taster kurz drücken, um auf den nächsten Sound
weiterzuschalten.
5. Drücken Sie den Taster länger als 2 Sekunden,
um den gewählten Sound dauerhaft zu spei-
chern.
6. Zur Änderung der Soundauswahl wiederholen
Sie die Schritte 1 – 5 beliebig oft.

5.4 Sound wiedergeben
Nachdem Sie einen Sound ausgewählt haben,
schließen Sie das Modul gemäß Abb. 10 an. Mit
dem Schalter können Sie das Modul ein- und aus-
schalten. Der Sound wird kontinuierlich abgespielt.
Achtung: Nach Einschalten der Stromzufuhr über
den Trafo mindestens 2 Sekunden warten, bis Sie
das Modul per Schalter aktivieren.
5.4 Play a sound
After having selected a sound, connect the module
as shown in g. 10. Use the switch to turn the mod-
ule on and o. The sound is played continuously.
Attention: Wait for minimum 2 sec. between con-
necting the module to power supply and activating
the module by switch.

5.5 Automatikbetrieb
Die Intervallschaltung mit einem Zeitrelais er-
möglicht das automatische Ein- und Ausschalten
in frei einstellbaren Zeitabständen. Schließen Sie
das Soundmodul gemäß Abb. 11 an ein Zeitrelais
(z. B. Viessmann Art. 5207) an und beachten Sie
die Anleitung zum Zeitrelais.
5.5 Automatic operation
By using a time relay (e. g. Viessmann item 5207),
the sound module can be automatically switched
on and o. Connect the sound module and time
relay as shown in g. 11 and note the time relay
manual.

6. Fehlersuche und Abhilfe
Jedes Viessmann-Produkt wird unter hohen Quali-
tätsstandards gefertigt und vor seiner Auslieferung
geprüft. Sollte es dennoch zu einer Störung kom-
men, können Sie anhand der folgenden Punkte eine
erste Überprüfung vornehmen.
Soundmodul spielt keinen Sound ab
- Der Anschluss der Schranken ist bei der
Einstellung nicht notwendig.
- Überprüfen Sie bitte als erstes die Stromzu-
führungen und die Verkabelung.
- Stellen Sie sicher, dass der kleine blaue Stecker
am unteren Gehäuserand des Soundmoduls mit
der Buchse daneben verbunden ist.
- Poti, ohne Verbindung von Versorgung zu
„Zeit-Buchse“, im Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Dabei
den Synchroneingang gemäß Abb. 2 immer
wieder ansteuern.
- Poti, mit Verbindung von Versorgung zu
„Zeit-Buchse“, im Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Auch
hierbei den Synchroneingang gemäß Abb. 2
immer wieder ansteuern.
Soundmodul spielt keinen Sound ab.
Am externen Lautsprecher ist kein Sound
zu hören.
- Der Anschluss der Schranken ist bei der
Einstellung nicht notwendig.
- Poti, ohne Verbindung von Versorgung zu
Zeit-Buchse, im Uhrzeigersinn drehen. Dabei
den Synchroneingang gemäß Abb. 2 immer
wieder ansteuern.

- Stellen Sie sicher, dass der kleine blaue
Stecker am unteren Gehäuserand des Sound-
moduls aus der Buchse daneben entfernt und
isoliert ist und der externe Lautsprecher gemäß
Abb. 7 angeschlossen ist.
Wenn Sie die Fehlerursache nicht finden und
beheben können, lesen Sie bitte das Kapitel 7
„Gewährleistung“.
6. Trouble-shooting
All Viessmann products are produced with
high quality standards and are checked
before delivery. Should a fault occur non-
withstanding, you can do a rst check.
No sound from the module.
- For adjustment, it is not necessary to connect the
barriers.
- Please check rst the power supply and the wir-
ing.
- Make sure that the small blue plug at the lower
edge of the sound module housing is connected
to the socket next to it. - Keep power and
“time socket” separated and turn the potentiom-
eter clockwise. In the process repeatedly trigger
the synchronous input acc. to g. 2.
- Connect power to “time socket” and turn the
potentiometer clockwise. Here, too, repeatedly
trigger the synchronous input acc. to g. 2.
No sound from the module.
No sound from the external loudspeaker.
- For adjustment, it is not necessary to connect the

at the housing of the sound module is re-
moved from the socket and is insulated.
Connect the external loudspeaker as shown in
g. 7.
Please refer to chapter 7 “Warranty” if you cannot
nd the cause of the failure and, therefore, cannot
rectify it.

7. Gewährleistung
Jeder Artikel wurde vor Auslieferung auf volle
Funktionalität geprüft. Der Gewährleistungszeitraum
beträgt 2 Jahre ab Kaufdatum. Tritt in dieser Zeit ein
Fehler auf und Sie nden die Fehlerursache nicht,
nehmen Sie bitte Kontakt mit uns auf (service@
viessmann-modell.com). Senden Sie uns den Artikel
zur Kontrolle bzw. Reparatur bitte erst nach Rück-
sprache zu. Wird nach Überprüfung des Artikels ein
Herstell- oder Materialfehler festgestellt, wird er kos-
tenlos instandgesetzt oder ausgetauscht. Von der
Gewährleistung und Haftung ausgeschlossen sind
Beschädigungen des Artikels sowie Folgeschäden,
die durch unsachgemäße Behandlung, Nichtbeach-
ten der Bedienungsanleitung, nicht bestimmungsge-
mäßen Gebrauch, eigenmächtigen Eingri, bauliche
Veränderungen, Gewalteinwirkung, Überhitzung u.
ä. verursacht werden.
7. Warranty
Each model is tested as to its full functionality prior
to delivery. The warranty period is 2 years starting
on the date of purchase. Should a fault occur during
this period please contact our service department
([email protected]). Please send
the item to the Viessmann service department for
check and repair only after consultation. If we nd
a material or production fault to be the cause of the
failure the item will be repaired free of charge or
replaced. Expressively excluded from any warranty
claims and liability are damages of the item and
consequential damages due to inappropriate han-
dling, disregarding the instructions of this manual,
inappropriate use of the model, unauthorized dis-
assembling, construction modications and use of
force, overheating and similar.
