Vi consigliamo di affidare l’installa-
zione del vostro Stûv (e il controllo)
a un tecnico specializzato che potrà
in particolare verificare se le caratteri-
stiche della canna fumaria corrispon-
dono al focolare installato.
Al ricevimento del materiale
Assieme al focolare sono inclusi:
- una bomboletta di vernice per even-
tuali ritocchi,
- una maniglia “mano fredda” per la
manipolazione delle porte, del regi-
stro e del tamburo,
- 2 profili,
- copertura interna di fissaggio della
parte frontale,
- la parte frontale,
- la piastra superiore del focolare,
- documenti:
. certificato di garanzia (da spedire
alla Mont-Export),
. istruzioni d’installazione,
. istruzioni per l’uso,
. scheda di controllo finale del
focolare.
- Come optional: kit di ventilazione
(1 ventilatore, 2 giunti in schiuma
poliuretanica, 1 interruttore, 2 viti di
fissaggio dell’interruttore).
Attenzione!
Al momento della consegna, accertarsi
che il vetro non sia rotto. La garanzia
copre eventuali danneggiamenti pro-
vocati durante il trasporto unicamente
se questi sono segnalati nelle 48 ore
successive alla consegna.
La vernice non è stata sottoposta a
trattamenti di cottura, perciò inizial-
mente sarà un po’ delicata, ma induri-
rà nel corso delle prime accensioni. Per
questo motivo, vi invitiamo a maneg-
giare il monoblocco con la massima
precauzione durante l’installazione.
Quando si accende il fuoco nel mono-
blocco per la prima volta, si possono
sprigionare fumi e odori. Ventilare
abbondantemente.
Per presentare un reclamo, comu-
nicare sempre il numero di serie del
monoblocco, visibile sul corpo dell’ap-
parecchio al centro sopra il cassetto
ceneri, nella posizione antina massiccia
(foto 3A), e inviare una copia della
scheda di controllo finale del focolare.
Consegnare i documenti all’utilizzatore
raccomandandogli di rinviare il certifi-
cato di garanzia alla Mont-Export.

We strongly recommend that you
entrust the installation of your Stûv
to (or at least have the installation
checked by) a qualified professional
who can, in particular, make sure that
the specifications of the flue corre-
spond to the fireplace installed.
On taking delivery of the equipment
With the fireplace, you should receive:
- a paint spray for repairs
- a “cold” handgrip for manoeuvring
the doors, the damper, and the
drum
- 2 finishing frames
- the front fixing part
- the front
- the fireplace’s upper plate
- documents:
. certificate of guarantee (to be
returned to Concept & Forme)
- installation instructions
- directions for use
- final inspection card for the fire-
place.
- Optional extra: ventilation kit
(1 ventilator, two foam-rubber seals,
1 “switch” housing, 2 fixing screws
for the “switch” housing).
Caution!
Check that the windows have not
been broken during delivery. The
guarantee only covers damage due
to transport if it is notified within 48
hours of delivery.
The paint is not oven-baked and is
therefore relatively fragile. It will, how-
ever, harden when it has been heated
a few times. Accordingly, take care
when handling the appliance while it is
being fitted.
When lighting the fire for the first
time, some unpleasant smoke and
smells may be released. Ventilate with
a plentiful supply of air.
If you have a complaint to make,
always communicate the number of
the fireplace, which can be seen on
the main frame of the appliance, in
the middle, above the ash pan, in the
solid-door position (photo 3A). Send
a copy of the final inspection card for
the fireplace.
Hand the documents to the user and
recommend that he or she should
return the certificate of guarantee to
Concept & Forme.

Verifica dell’incavo nella muratura
e della canna fumaria
Verificare che le caratteristiche dimen-
sionali della canna fumaria e dell’inca-
vo nella muratura rispondano alle nor-
mative locali vigenti al fine di eseguire
un’installazione a regola d’arte.
Effettuare i collegamenti elettrici
necessari se si è deciso di installare un
ventilatore supplementare.
Alcune regole elementari:
- Per un tiraggio corretto, il mono-
blocco deve essere adattato al con-
dotto del camino (o viceversa).
- Un camino troppo grande è pregiu-
dizievole al buon funzionamento di
un focolare allo stesso modo di un
camino troppo piccolo.
- La canna fumaria deve essere il più
diritta possibile.
- La soluzione ideale è un condotto
costruito all’interno del camino e iso-
lato termicamente. Evitare assoluta-
mente canne fumarie esterne senza
isolamento.

Checking the recess and the flue
Make sure that the dimensions of the
flue and the recess meet local regula-
tions and the standards applying to
proper installation.
Make the electrical connections
needed, if you have opted for auxiliary
ventilation.
Some basic considerations:
- For a proper draught, the fireplace
must be adapted to the flue (or vice
versa).
- An over-sized chimney can be as
harmful to the proper operation of
the fireplace as one that is too small.
- The flue should be as straight as
possible.
- The ideal solution is a flue construct-
ed inside the building and thermally
insulated. An outside flue without
any insulation is to be avoided.
The tools you need
- a hammer

Disimballaggio dello Stûv 30-in
Con il leverino da carpentiere, togliere
l’imballo in legno che serve da prote-
zione al monoblocco durante il traspor-
to (foto 7).
Attenzione a non graffiare il focolare!
La vernice non è stata sottoposta a
cottura in forno.
Rimuovere del tutto l’imballaggio.
Per facilitare il lavoro e per ridurre il
peso del focolare da trasportare, que-
st’ultimo si può disimballare e si pos-
sono togliere gli elementi situati nella
camera di combustione ed eventual-
mente le 3 porte.
Attenzione:
Quando è imballato, il focolare deve
essere posizionato sul carrello in modo
che appoggi sull’imballo in legno.
Quando è disimballato, il focolare
deve essere posizionato sul carrello in
modo che appoggi sull’angolare per
il trasporto e il posizionamento (foto
8). Per maggior sicurezza, togliere la
porta del cassetto ceneri e il cassetto
stesso.
Smontaggio dello Stûv 30-in
Per togliere le porte, aprirle leggermen-
te con la maniglia “mano fredda” (foto
9).
Sollevarle per farle uscire dai cardini,
quindi spingerle verso sinistra (foto 10).
Togliere la barra d’acciaio che sostie-
ne le tavelle refrattarie orizzontali in
vermiculite. Basta premere su questa
perché esca dalle tacche.
Togliere le tavelle refrattarie orizzontali
in vermiculite (11C), quindi il deviatore
dei fumi (11D e 12), verticalmente.
Togliere quindi le tavelle refrattarie
orizzontali che si trovano in fondo al
focolare (11A). Queste sono semplice-
mente appoggiate.

Unpacking the Stûv 30-in
Using the claw hammer, remove the
wooden packing that protected the
fireplace during transport (photo 7).
Take care not to scratch the fireplace!
The paint has not been oven-baked.
Completely remove the packing.
To make your work easier, you could
unpack it and remove the components
located in the combustion chamber
and, perhaps, also remove the three
doors.
Caution:
While still in its packing, the fireplace
should be positioned on the trolley
in such a way that it is resting on the
wooden packing.
When unpacked, the fireplace should
be positioned on the trolley in such
a way that it leans on the transport
and positioning bracket (photo 8). For
extra safety, remove the ash-pan door
and the ash pan.
Stripping the S30-in
To remove the doors, open them
slightly, using the cold handgrip (photo
9).
Lift them to remove them from their
hinges, then push them to the left
(photo 10).
Remove the steel bar that supports
the horizontal vermiculite refractories:
to remove it from its notches, you just
have to push it.
Remove the horizontal vermiculite
refractories (11C); next remove the
smoke deflector (11D and 12),
vertically.
Then, remove the horizontal refractories
at the back of the fireplace (11A). These
are simply placed there, not fixed.

Il pavimento deve essere perfettamente
orizzontale.
Togliere la porta del ricuperatore della
cenere (foto 15). Rimuovere completa-
mente il cassetto ceneri (foto 16).
Collocare una tavola di protezione
(preferibilmente di 75x75 mm di sezio-
ne) sul carrello (foto 17).

Placing the fireplace
Please note:
The fireplace should be able to expand
naturally. Masonry and decorative
materials must never be in contact with
the fireplace: be sure to allow at least 2
or 3 mm of play.
Make sure that the ground is perfectly
horizontal.
Take off the ash-pan door (photo 15).
Completely remove the ash pan (photo
16).
Place a plank (ideally, 75 x 75 mm in
cross-section) on the trolley (photo 17).
Slide the trolley under the fireplace
(photo 18).

dell’antina massiccia per collocare in
maniera corretta il monoblocco sul
fondo dell’incavo nella muratura.
La continua rotazione del tamburo
tende a far spostare leggermente il
monoblocco (in particolare se il pavi-
mento dell’incavo è perfettamente
liscio).
Si consiglia quindi di bloccare lateral-
mente il monoblocco contro la muratu-
ra: Aprire, o meglio ancora, togliere la
porta del cassetto ceneri.
Con la chiave piatta N° 8, svitare il
dado che si trova tra il monoblocco e la
muratura. Riavvitare il controdado fino
al suo arresto – all’interno dello Stûv
30-in – (foto 20’)
Ricollocare e richiudere la porta del
cassetto ceneri.
Entrata d’aria fresca
Funzionando con il vetro aperto,
lo Stûv 30-in consuma molta aria.
Occorre quindi prevedere un’entrata
d’aria fresca proveniente da uno spazio
vuoto ventilato, da un locale ventilato
o dall’esterno (fig. 21). Questa presa
d’aria di sezione minima 1 dm² dovreb-
be preferibilmente arrivare sotto il
focolare. La presa dovrà essere munita
di un registro di chiusura (A).

Adjusting the level of the fireplace
Using the no.5 Allen key, adjust the
two front ball-and-socket feet, so that
the bottom of the appliance is at least
35 mm from the floor.
Unscrew and remove the access hatch
to the two rear feet. Adjust them.
Put back the access hatch, the ash pan,
and the ash-pan door.
Use the protective bracket on the solid
door to move the fireplace into the
correct position within the recess.
When the drum rotates a lot, this can
cause the fireplace to move slightly
(especially if the floor in the recess is
very smooth).
For this reason, we recommend fixing
the side of the fireplace against the
structure of the building:
Open the ash-pan door or, better still,
remove it.
Using the 8-mm open-end span-
ner, unscrew the nut that is located
between the fireplace and the masonry.
Screw the locknut as far as it will go
– inside the Stûv 30-in (photo 20’).
Put back and close the ash-pan door.
Letting in fresh air
When it is operating as an open fire,
the Stûv 30-in consumes a lot of air.
So it is necessary to provide an air
inlet; the air can come from a venti-
lated space, from a ventilated room,
or from outside (fig. 21). This air inlet,
which should have a section of at least
1 square decimetre, should ideally
arrive underneath the fireplace. It must
be fitted with a closing damper (A).

Circolazione d’aria calda (fig. 22)
Convezione naturale o ventilazione
forzata?
Nella maggior parte dei casi è suffi-
ciente la convezione d’aria naturale.
La ventilazione forzata ha comunque
l’effetto di aumentare la portata d’aria,
di ridurne la temperatura a livello delle
bocchette d’uscita e di spingere l’aria
più lontano, anche in locali attigui.
Isolamento del monoblocco:
vantaggi e svantaggi
Si possono installare isolanti termici fra
la muratura e il monoblocco.
Verranno comunque prese le misure
necessarie per evitare il surriscalda-
mento delle pareti e degli elementi di
costruzione vicini al focolare. Questi
materiali verranno isolati a regola d’arte
secondo le norme in vigore al momen-
to dell’installazione e in funzione della
loro infiammabilità.
Vantaggi:
- Si riduce la dispersione del calore.
Questo è giustificato unicamente
se il monoblocco poggia contro un
muro esterno. Diversamente il calore
non si disperderà, ma si propagherà
attraverso la muratura verso ambienti
attigui.
- Si riduce la temperatura in prossimità
di elementi infiammabili.
In ogni caso, le prese d’aria di conve-
zione situate nella parte inferiore del
focolare non devono essere ostruite
lateralmente o posteriormente.
Utilizzare eventualmente fibre di
ceramica o pannelli rigidi composti
da fibre minerali rilegate fra loro da
collanti.
Svantaggi:
- Se il rivestimento in muratura non
è realizzato in modo perfettamen-
te ermetico, particelle dell’isolante
potrebbero disperdersi attraverso
l’aria di convezione.

Hot air circulation (fig. 22)
Natural convection or supplementary
ventilation?
In most cases, natural convection is
sufficient. A supplementary ventilation
system, however, makes it possible to
increase the flow of air, to reduce its
temperature at the outlet vents, and to
send it farther (even into a neighbour-
ing room).
Insulating the fireplace:
for and against
Thermal insulating material can be
placed between the masonry and the
fireplace.
In any case, the necessary precautions
must be taken to avoid excessive heat-
ing of the walls and any parts of the
building adjoining the fireplace. These
should be insulated according to proper
standards and to the local regulations
in force at the time of installation, and
in particular according to how inflam-
mable they are.
For:
- reducing heat loss; this only applies
when the fireplace is standing against
an outside wall. Otherwise, the heat
will not be lost: it will be dispersed
through the masonry and then into
the adjoining rooms;
- reducing the peak temperature,
if there are inflammable materials
nearby. Make sure, in any case, not
to obstruct the convected-air inlets
situated in the lower part of the fire-
place, at the sides and at the back.
Ideally, you should use ceramic fibre,
or else rigid panels of mineral wool
whose fibres are bonded by a binder.
Against:
- if the masonry surrounding the fire-
place has not been made perfectly
airtight, particles of insulating mate-
rial may be found in suspension in
the convection air.

In situazioni particolari, i monoblocchi
possono richiedere un diametro diverso
rispetto a quello standard. Consultare il
rivenditore autorizzato.
Si consiglia di isolare la canna fumaria
per favorire il tiraggio ed evitare effetti
di condensa.
Se sono disponibili diversi condotti (fig.
23):
- Utilizzarne uno solo.
- Ostruire in alto e in basso i condotti
non utilizzati e verificare che la mura-
tura che circonda il monoblocco sia
completamente impermeabile per
evitare che l’aria fredda proveniente
dall’esterno non raffreddi l’interno
della casa (fig. 23 a destra). Un con-
dotto non utilizzato o uno spazio
vuoto ventilato fra i muri può pro-
vocare un controtiraggio alquanto
dannoso.
Collegamento propriamente detto
Prima di eseguire il collegamento,
verificare che il focolare si trovi nella
posizione definitiva e che sia a livello.
Inserire il condotto dell’uscita fumi nella
flangia selezionata (foto 24).
Avvitare il condotto sulla flangia.
Impermeabilizzare riempiendo lo spazio
fra il condotto e la flangia.
Utilizzare un giunto resistente alle alte
temperature.
Nota: Una volta sistemato il focolare
nella posizione definitiva, non dimenti-
care di rimuovere l’angolare per il tra-
sporto e il posizionamento (foto 25).
Connection to a chimney
We recommend a stainless steel flue,
rigid if possible.
The outlet should have a diameter of
180 mm along its full length.
Some kinds of chimneys may require
a diameter different from the standard
one. Please consult Stûv about this.
It is advisable to insulate the flue, to
improve the draught and to avoid con-
densation.
If several flues are available (fig. 23):
- only use one
- block the flues that are not being
used, at the top and at the bottom;
make sure that the recess into which
the fireplace is built is airtight, to
avoid cold air from outside entering
and cooling the inside of the house
(fig.23, right). An unused flue or a
ventilated space between walls can
cause a very harmful backdraught.
The actual connection
Before carrying out the connection,
check that the fireplace is in its final
position and that it is level.
Insert the smoke outlet pipe into the
flange that you have chosen (photo
24).
Screw the pipe to the flange.
Make it airtight by filling the space
between the pipe and the flange. Use
a sealant that is resistant to high tem-
peratures.
Note: once the fireplace is in its final
position, don’t forget to remove the
transport and positioning bracket
(photo 25).

Connecting the hot-air outlets
We strongly recommend that you
connect these, if you are not using
a ventilator to distribute the hot air.
We recommend outlets made of alu-
minium.
The standard diameter for a hot-air
outlet is 150 mm.
Remove the pre-cut parts by tapping
as closely as possible to the smoke
outlet, and then screw in the flanges
(photos 26 & 27).
Attach the hot-air outlets using clamp-
ing collars (photos 28 & 29).
Preparing the fireplace
Using M5 screws, put in place the front
fixing part (page 30).
Put back the front panel (photo 31).

Supplementary ventilation
Check that the delivery does in fact
include the following items (photo 44):
- 1 ventilator,
- 2 foam-rubber seals,
- 1 “switch” housing,
- 2 M5x8 fixing screws for the
“switch” housing.
Before carrying out any electrical work,
disconnect the power supply!
Using the No. 3 Allen key, unscrew and
remove the upper half-disc.
Remove the two finishing frames
(photo 45).

Open and remove the ash-pan door
(photo 46).
Take out the ash pan (photo 47).
Using the 8-mm box spanner, remove
the 2 screws from the ventilator access
hatch panel (photo 48).
Take off the panel (photo 49).
Stick the 2 foam-rubber seals on either
side of the circular hole, perpendicular
to the back wall, in such a way that
the ventilator can be put in place
(photo 50). First of all, remove any
grease from around the circular hole.
Position the ventilator in the ash-pan
space, and pass the cables through the
hole (Figure 52A) at the back on the
right (photo 51).
Push the ventilator to the back of its
recess. Rotate it a few degrees so that
it fits snugly into the recess (Figure 52).
Take hold of the 3 Faston plugs emerg-
ing from the ventilator.
Bring the “switch” housing close to the
fireplace. Connect the power supply
cable (photo 53).

Spingere il ventilatore sul fondo dell’in-
cavo. Ruotarlo leggermente per farlo
adattare alla forma dell’incavo (figu-
ra 52).
Prendere i connettori Faston del venti-
latore.
Portare l’interruttore vicino al mono-
blocco. Collegare il cavo di alimenta-
zione (photo 53).

Inserire l’interruttore con il variatore
verso l’alto (foto 55).
Fissare l’interruttore (foto 55).
Ricollegare i fusibili e verificare il fun-
zionamento del ventilatore nelle 3 posi-
zioni.
Ricollocare la piastra della botola di
accesso del ventilatore (foto 56).
Riposizionare il cassetto ceneri, la porta
del cassetto, il semidisco superiore e i
profili (foto 57-59).

Connect the ventilator’s Faston plugs
to those of the “switch” casing.
Be careful: pay attention to the colours
of the cables (photo 54).
Insert the “switch” casing, with the
speed regulator uppermost (photo 55).
Attach the “switch” casing (photo 55).
Reconnect the power supply, and test
the ventilator’s operation in all three
positions.
Put back the ventilator access hatch
panel (photo 56).
Put back the ash pan, the ash-pan
door, the upper half-disc, and the fin-
ishing frames (photos 57 to 59).
