The GTO Access Systems Photoelectric Dual Beam Detector uses dual beam and through-beam technology
to reduce false detections when detecting obstructions. When the beams detect the presence of a moving
object, the detection will cause the gate(s) to stop and reverse to the fully open position. As long as the
beam is obstructed the gate(s) will remain open. Not compatible with solar powered gate operators.

Be sure that the optical axis is never obstructed. (The optical axis is both the vertical and horizontal
range of detection, or beam, between the transmitter and receiver)

Pole Mounting
2. Feed the wire through the mounting pole.
1. Remove the Photo Beam cover (as shown in step 1 above).
3. Using the Mounting Plate and Bracket secure the Photo
Beam to the mounting pole.

1. Remove Photo Beam
cover by loosening the
cover holding screw, but
DO NOT REMOVE THE
SCREW ALL THE WAY.

knockout and use the
screw holes to mount

• 300 ft (91.4m) max length
• Be sure to capture the wire ends under
the wire clamp plates.
• Avoid frayed ends on wires that might
produce a short circuit.
• Be careful not to over tighten the screws
as this may strip the threads in the plastic

Wiring Precautions
Make sure the power switch to the opener is turned off before connecting safety device
wiring to the terminal blocks. Unplugging the transformer does not turn power to the
opener OFF.
IMPORTANT: DO NOT use Photo Beams on systems charged with solar panels.

Receiver DIP Switch Settings:
1&2 – Different frequency settings for multiple
beams in close proximity. Receiver and
Transmitter must have 1&2 set the same.
3&4 – For adjusting RESPONSE TIME of beam.
In locations where ying debris or birds are
an issue, a longer response time may be
necessary. The recommend FACTORY
setting is 3&4 ON.
5 ––– For adjusting time unit remains in ALARM
state.
6 ––– No function.
Transmitter DIP Switch Settings:
1&2 – Set the same as Receiver
3 ––– Beam Power – for recommended application
DIP 3 must remain on “L” low.

Adjusts the amount of time between the beam being
broken and the normally open relay closing. Adjust
the response time by adjusting DIP switches 3 & 4.
The factory setting is DIP 3 & 4 ON, to detect fast
moving objects. This is the recommended setting for
gate automation applications.

With the POWER connected and the RECEIVER and TRANSMITTER covers removed, make sure DIP switch 1
& 2 are set the same on the RECEIVER and TRANSMITTER.
Adjust the horizontal pivot and the vertical adjustment screw. Look through the viewnder on either side and
adjust to put the opposite sensor in the middle of the cross-hairs in the view nder.
Adjust the alignment until the LED display on the receiver reads between 5 to 9 volts additionally the voltage
between terminals 6 & 7 on the Receiver should be 4 VDC (±10˚).

Symptom Possible Cause Remedy
Transmitter POWER LED does not light. Improper voltage supplied. Check the power supply and wiring.
Receiver POWER LED do not light. Improper voltage supplied. Check the power supply and wiring.
Alarm LED does not light,
even when beams are blocked.
1. Beams reflect to the receiver
by other objects.
2. Both beams are not blocked
simultaneously.
3. Beam response time is too short.
1. Remove the reflecting object or change
optical axis direction.
2. Block both beams.
3. Adjust Beam response time.
When beams are blocked, receiver LED
lights are ON, but not alarm.
1. Wiring is short circuited.

Check wiring and connection spot.
The alarm indication lamp of receiver is
always on.

transmitter and the receiver.
3. The outer covers are dirty.
