Chapter 1 Basic Operations and Functions

1-1. Basic Adjustment Menu Operations

●Displaying the Adjustment Menu

Pressing the function button to change the setting or pressing allows you to display the

adjustment menu.

When pressing the input signal selection, mode or brightness control

●Modifying the Setting

The operation methods differ depending on the icons.

Display example Operation method

As for the icons displayed with the +/- marks, selecting + allows you to increase the

setting value or selecting - to decrease it.

Selecting the icon displayed with mark allows you to show the next menu.

/ The Enable/Disable setting is toggled by selecting the icon. X is displayed when the

function is invalid.

●Displaying the Function Name

1. Press while the adjustment menu is displayed.

2. The function name is displayed.

●Storing the Setting/Exiting the Adjustment Menu

After completing the setting, selecting allows you to store the setting. Selecting repeatedly

allows you to close the adjustment menu.

Note

• The adjustment menu automatically nishes if no input operations occur within 45 seconds.

The following table shows setting items of the adjustment menu.

Saturation The color saturation can be adjusted.

Adjustable range: -100 to 100

Temperature The color temperature can be

adjusted. The gain preset values are

set for each color temperature setting

value.

Adjustable range: Native,

6500K-15000K (specied by every

500K unit, including 9300K), User (at

gain adjustment)

Gamma Gamma can be adjusted.

Adjustable range: 1.8, 2.0, 2.2

Tools

Info1 Displays the input signal status

(analog/digital), resolution, H/V

frequency.

Info2 Displays the model name, usage time

and serial number.

Input Signal Sets to detect the input signal

automatically. The Auto/Manual

setting is toggled by selecting the

icon.

Reset Resets the adjustment values to the

factory settings.

Attention

• After resetting, you cannot undo the

operation.

All:

Resets all adjustments to the default

settings (factory settings).

Color (CUS*):

Only the adjustment values in the

current CAL Switch mode will revert

to the default settings (factory

settings).

Menu Settings

Language A language for the Adjustment menu

and messages can be selected.

The language setting is toggled by

selecting the icon.

Power Save

Auto

EcoView

The sensor on the front side of the

monitor detects the environmental

brightness to adjust the screen

brightness automatically and

comfortably by using the Auto

EcoView function. The Enable/

Disable setting is toggled by selecting

the icon.

Power LED This function allows you to set the

power indicator (blue) ON/OFF in

the monitor ON condition. The On/

Off setting is toggled by selecting the

icon.

Icon Function Overview

Off Timer This function allows the monitor to

automatically turn off after a specied

time has passed. This function

serves to protect the monitor from

after-images caused when the same

image is left displayed for a long time.

Use this function when an image is

displayed throughout the day.

Adjustable range: Off, 1 to 23h

Screen

Sharpness This function allows you to

emphasize the outline of the image

by emphasizing the color difference

between the pixels composing the

image and to improve a sense of

quality and materiality. Contrarily, this

function allows you to show the image

smoothly by blurring the outline of the

image.

*1 The name of the current CAL Switch mode is

displayed.

2-1. Compatible Resolutions

For compatible resolutions of this product, refer to Instruction for Use "Compatible Resolutions".

2-2. Setting the Resolution

●Windows 10

1. Right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop except for icons.

2. From the displayed menu, click “Display Settings”.

3. On the “Customize your display” dialog box, click “Advanced display settings”.

4. Select a monitor, then choose a resolution from the “Resolution” pull-down menu.

5. Click the “Apply” button.

6. When a conrmation dialog box is displayed, click “Keep changes”.

●Windows 8.1/Windows 8/Windows 7

1. For Windows 8.1 / Windows 8, click the “Desktop” tile on the Start Screen to display the desktop.

2. Right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop except for icons.

3. From the displayed menu, click “Screen Resolution”.

4. On the “Screen Resolution” dialog box, select the monitor.

5. Click “Resolution” to select the desired resolution.

6. Click the “OK” button.

7. When a conrmation dialog box is displayed, click “Keep changes”.

●Windows Vista

1. Right-click the mouse anywhere on the desktop except for icons.

2. From the displayed menu, click “Personalize”.

3. On the “Personalization” window, click “Display Settings”.

4. On the “Display Settings” dialog box, select the “Monitor” tab and select desired resolution in the

“Resolution” eld.

5. Click the “OK” button.

6. When a conrmation dialog box is displayed, click “Yes”.

●OS X Mountain Lion (10.8) and later

1. Select “System Preferences” from the Apple menu.

2. When the “System Preferences” dialog box is displayed, click “Displays”. (For Mac OS X Mountain

Lion (10.8), click “Displays” for “Hardware”.)

3. On the displayed dialog box, select the “Display” tab, then choose “Change” for “Resolutions”.

4. The list of selectable resolutions is displayed. Select the desired resolution.

If the desired resolution is not displayed in the list, hold down the Option key and select “Change”.

5. Your selection will be reected immediately.When you are satised with the selected resolution,

close the window.

●Mac OS X 10.7

1. Select “System Preferences” from the Apple menu.

2. When the “System Preferences” dialog box is displayed, click “Displays” for “Hardware”.

3. On the displayed dialog box, select the “Display” tab and select desired resolution in the

“Resolutions” eld.

4. Your selection will be reected immediately. When you are satised with the selected resolution,

close the window.

2-3. Adjusting Color

●Selecting the Display Mode (CAL Switch Mode)

A desired mode can be selected easily according to the monitor application.

Display Modes

Mode Purpose

(DICOM-CL) DICOM-CL mode. Available for setting tailored to X-ray lm color (clear base).

(TXT) Text mode. Suitable for displaying texts for word processing or spreadsheets.

(CUS) Custom mode. Available for the color settings according to your preference.

(CAL) CAL mode. Displays the screen adjusted by calibration software.

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Press again while the adjustment menu is displayed.

Each time you press the button, the mode is switched.

3. Select .

The mode selected is set.

→ DICOM-CL → TXT → CUS → CAL →

Note

• You can also select the CAL Switch mode by pressing and select (Color).

●Performing Advanced Adjustments

Independent setting and saving of color adjustment are available for each CAL Switch mode.

Attention

• It takes about 30 minutes for the performance of electrical parts to stabilize. Please wait 30 minutes or more

after the monitor power has been turned on or the monitor has recovered from the power saving mode, and

then adjust the monitor.

• Perform (AutoRange) rst when adjusting color for analog input signals. (See “To adjust color gradation

automatically” (page 16).)

• The same image may be seen in different colors on multiple monitors due to their monitor-specic

characteristics. Make ne color adjustment visually when matching colors on multiple monitors.

• The values shown in “%” or “K” are available only as reference.

●Adjustable Settings in Each Mode

According to the CAL Switch mode selected, the adjustable function differs. (You cannot select any

non-adjustable or non-settable function.)

●Adjusting Brightness

The screen brightness is adjusted by changing the brightness of the backlight (light source from the

LCD back panel).

Setting Range

0 to 100 %

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Adjust the brightness with or of (Brightness).

4. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Note

• You can also adjust the brightness by pressing or while the adjustment menu is not displayed.

●Adjusting Contrast

The luminance of the screen is adjusted by varying the video signal level.

Setting Range

0 to 100 %

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Adjust the contrast with or of (Contrast).

4. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Note

• You can also adjust the contrast by pressing while the adjustment menu is not displayed, and press

or of (Contrast).

• At a contrast level of 50 %, every color gradation is displayed.

• When adjusting the monitor, users are recommended to adjust the brightness, which may not downgrade

the gradation characteristics, prior to adjusting the contrast. Perform the contrast adjustment in the following

cases.

- If you think the screen is dark even when the brightness level is set to 100 %

- If you think the black level of the screen is bright (Reduce the brightness level and set the contrast level

above 50 %)

●Adjusting Temperature

The color temperature can be adjusted.

The color temperature is normally used to express the hue of “white” and/or “black” by a numerical

value. The value is expressed in degrees “K” (Kelvin).

The screen becomes reddish at a low color temperature, and bluish at a high color temperature, like

the ame temperature. The gain preset values are set for each color temperature setting value.

Setting Range

Native, 6000K - 15000K (specied by every 500K unit, including 9300K), User (at gain adjustment)

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Select (Color Menu).

4. Adjust the color temperature with or of (Temperature).

5. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Note

• “Gain” allows you to perform more advanced adjustments (refer to “Adjusting Gain” (page 11)).

• If you set “Native”, the image is displayed in the preset color of the monitor (Gain: 100 % for each RGB).

• When gain is changed, the color temperature is changed to “User”.

Chapter 2 Adjusting Screens

●Adjusting Gamma

Gamma can be adjusted. The brightness of the monitor varies depending on the input signal,

however, the variation rate is not proportional to the input signal. To keep the balance between the

input signal and the brightness of the monitor is called as “Gamma correction”.

Setting Range

1.8, 2.0, 2.2

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Select (Color Menu).

4. Adjust the gamma value with or of (Gamma).

5. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

●Adjusting Gain

The brightness of each color component red, green, and blue is called Gain. You can change the hue

of “white” by adjusting gain.

Setting Range

0 to 100 %

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Select (Color Menu).

4. Select (Gain).

5. Adjust the respective value of (Red)/ (Green)/ (Blue) with or .

6. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Note

• The value of gain changes with that of color temperature.

• When gain is changed, the color temperature is changed to “User”.

●Adjusting Hue

The hue can be adjusted. If you set the hue to a high value, the image turns greenish. If low, the

image turns purplish.

Setting Range

-100 to 100

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Select (Color Menu).

4. Select (Advanced).

5. Adjust the hue with or of (Hue).

6. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Attention

• After this adjustment, some color gradations may not be displayed.

●Adjusting Saturation

The color saturation can be adjusted.

Setting Range

-100 to 100

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Color).

3. Select (Color Menu).

4. Select (Advanced).

5. Adjust the saturation with or of (Saturation).

6. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Attention

• After this adjustment, some color gradations may not be displayed.

Note

• The minimum value (-100) changes the screen to monochrome.

2-4. Adjusting Screens

●Digital Signal Input

When digital signals are input, images are displayed correctly based on the preset data of the

monitor, but if you perform more advanced adjustment, see ““2-3. Adjusting Color” (page 8)” and

subsequent pages.

●Analog Signal Input

Attention

• It takes about 30 minutes for the performance of electrical parts to stabilize. Please wait 30 minutes or more

after the monitor power has been turned on or the monitor has recovered from the power saving mode, and

then adjust the monitor.

• The Self Adjust (automatic screen adjustment) function does not work for the images under the resolution of

800 × 600 (SVGA).

• The self adjustment and auto adjustment functions work correctly when an image is fully displayed over the

Windows or Macintosh display area. They do not work properly in the cases below:

- when an image is displayed only on a part of the screen (command prompt window, for example)

- when a black background (wallpaper, etc.) is in use

Also, these functions cannot work properly in some graphic boards.

The monitor screen adjustment is used to suppress ickering of the screen or adjust screen position

and screen.

Note

• The self adjustment function works when all of the following conditions are satised:

- When a signal is input into the monitor for the rst time or when a resolution or vertical/horizontal scan

frequency not used before is set.

If the screen is not displayed correctly even after performing the self adjustment operation, adjust the

screen according to the procedures on the following pages to use the monitor comfortably.

How to Set

1. Perform the auto adjustment.

●To adjust ickering, screen position, and screen size automatically

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Analog).

3. Select (AutoSize).

Flickering, screen position, and screen size are adjusted automatically.

4. After conrming the screen message, select (OK).

If you select (Undo), the monitor returns to the pre-adjusted status.

If the screen is not displayed correctly even after performing Auto Adjustment, perform the adjustments

according to the procedures on the following pages. If the screen is displayed correctly, go to “5. Adjusting

color gradation.” (page 16).

Perform the auto adjustment again with the analog screen adjustment pattern

displayed.

●To adjust ickering, screen position, and screen size automatically

Procedure

1. Display Pattern 1 in full screen on the monitor using the “Screen adjustment pattern les”.

2. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

3. Select (Analog).

4. Select (AutoSize).

Flickering, screen position, and screen size are adjusted automatically.

5. After conrming the screen message, select (OK).

If you select (Undo), the monitor returns to the pre-adjusted status.

If the screen is not displayed correctly even after performing Auto Adjustment, perform the adjustments

according to the procedures on the following pages. If the screen is displayed correctly, go to “5. Adjusting

color gradation.” (page 16).

Choose from the adjustment menu to perform advanced adjustments.

Select (Manual) to adjust the clock, phase and position, in this order.

●To eliminate vertical bars

Procedure

1. Adjust the clock with or of (Clock) to eliminate vertical bars.

Note

• Press the control button slowly so as not to miss the adjustment point.

• When blurring, ickering or bars appear on the screen after adjustment, proceed to “To remove ickering or

blurring”.

●To remove ickering or blurring

Procedure

1. Adjust the phase with or of (Phase) to remove ickering or blurring.

Attention

• Flickering or blurring may not be eliminated depending on your PC or graphics board.

●To correct the screen position

Note

• Since the number of pixels and the pixel positions are xed on the LCD monitor, only one position is provided

to display images correctly. The position adjustment is made to shift an image to the correct position.

Procedure

1. Select (Position).

2. Adjust the position with (Left) / (Right) / (Down) / (Up) to display the image

properly in the display area of the monitor.

3. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

Note

• When vertical bars appear on the screen after adjustment, go back to “To eliminate vertical bars”. (Clock →

Phase → Position)

4. Close Pattern 1.

Adjusting color gradation.

●To adjust color gradation automatically

Every color gradation (0 to 255) can be displayed by adjusting the signal output level.

Procedure

1. Display Pattern 2 in full screen on the monitor using the “Screen adjustment pattern les”.

2. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

3. Select (Analog).

4. Select (AutoRange).

Color gradation is adjusted automatically.

5. After conrming the screen message, select (OK).

If you select (Undo), the monitor returns to the pre-adjusted status.

6. Close Pattern 2.

2-5. Adjusting Sharpness

This function allows you to emphasize the outline of the image by emphasizing the color difference

between the pixels composing the image and to improve a sense of quality and materiality. Contrarily, this

function allows you to show the image smoothly by blurring the outline of the image.

Adjustable range

-3 to 3

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Screen).

3. Adjust the sharpness with or of (Sharpness).

4. Select .

The adjustment is completed.

A language for the Adjustment menu and messages can be selected.

2. Select (Settings).

3. The language setting is switched by selecting (Language).

3-2. Displaying or Hiding the EIZO Logo

The EIZO logo can be displayed or hidden.

Procedure

1. Press to turn off the monitor.

2. Hold down and press to turn on the monitor.

The EIZO logo display setting is toggled by performing the operation in step 2.

3-3. Locking Operation Buttons

The settings can be locked to prevent them being changed.

There are two types of locks: “Key Lock” and “Menu Lock”.

Key Lock: Locks buttons other than the Power button.

Menu Lock: Locks buttons other than the Power, Input, and Mode

buttons.

Procedure

1. Press to turn off the monitor.

2. Hold down and press to turn on the monitor.

The adjustment menu appears.

3. Each time you press , the mode is switched.

The mode selected is set.

Attention

• The key lock function is also activated when calibration is performed using RadiCS/RadiCS LE.

3-4. Resetting to Default

There are two different Resets: Color Reset for only resetting the color adjustments to the default settings

and All Reset for resetting all settings to the defaults.

Attention

• After resetting, you cannot undo the operation.

Note

• Regarding the default setting, see “6-4. Main Default Settings” (page 28).

●Resetting the Color Adjustments

Only the color adjustment value for the current CAL Switch mode can be reset to the default settings.

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Tool).

3. Select (Reset).

If you will not perform the reset operation, select .

4. Select (Color (CUS*1)).

The color adjustment values revert to the default settings.

*1 The name of the current CAL Switch mode is displayed.

●Resetting All Adjustments to Defaults

All adjustments are reset to the default settings.

Procedure

1. Press .

The adjustment menu appears.

2. Select (Tool).

3. Select (Reset).

If you will not perform the reset operation, select .

4. Select (All).

All setting values revert to the default settings.

Chapter 4 Power Saving Functions

4-1. Power Saving Mode

Attention

• When not using the monitor, you can disconnect the power plug so that the power is completely cut.

• Five seconds before the monitor enters the power saving mode, it displays a preliminary message.

● Digital Signal Input

This monitor complies with the DVI DMPM standard.

Power Saving System

The monitor enters the power saving mode after ve seconds in connection with the PC setting.

This function allows you to set the power indicator (blue) ON/OFF in the monitor ON condition.

3. The On/Off setting is toggled by selecting (Power LED).
